I have found this to NOT be accurate. Upon receiving the Restart Required, turn ignition OFF and open the driver's door THEN CLOSE THE DRIVERS DOOR (you can optionally lock it). Now wait until the truck goes into a shutdown state (can take 5-30 minutes), which can be determined by keeping an eye on the ambient lighting surrounding the rear seat USB and power ports. When they fully turn off, the truck is likely in its sleep state. Also, I would recommend NOT keeping the smart key anywhere near the truck after you've turned the ignition OFF and opened/closed the door. When you go to check on the truck's sleep status, leave your key far away from the truck so it doesn't wake back up.USB Update Procedure:
Once done, you will see a Restart Required prompt on your SYNC screen. At this point turn ignition OFF and open the driver door. DO NOT REMOVE THE FLASH DRIVE. Wait at least 10 minutes, close the driver door and turn ignition ON.
When I tried the original recommendation above, every single USB update failed. When I used the modified procedure describe in my post, the USB updates worked every single time.
Hope this helps!
