Keep hand on the wheel doesn’t happen when BC is activated..?My BlueCruise has become dangerous lately in the evening. It will suddenly show the keep hands on the wheel message and sometimes tries to shoot into another lane if I don't stop it. It works fine in the morning but is all kinds messed up in the evening.
Yes, I am on a freeway that has always been a BlueCruise route. It keeps dropping out and reverting to the self driving feature that is not hands free and I am on slow moving rush hour traffic. It had always worked fine in these conditions but now drops out constantly and often try's to change lanes when it quits which would cause an accident. It is very dangerous!Keep hand on the wheel doesn’t happen when BC is activated..?
Are you driving on a BC route and under 80MPH?
I am running I-10 westbound from Houston towards Katy at 4pm and it is anywhere between nonfunctional and downright dangerous. It will run fine for a couple minutes and then drops out and either starts ping ponging between the lane or flat out shooting toward another lane unexpected. The keep hands on steering wheel message is always on the display after it drops out and starts becoming dangerous.Bluecruise at night, basically East/West from Texas to Atlantic coast, is when I get the best experience.
The CMR is happy with my non-sunglasses, and the black/white contrast on Interstate 10 is eye candy for the IPMA.
I'd love to understand better what the possible causes are for the inconsistencies between vehicles.
Welcome to the forum. We'll be happy to help you along the way. What Sync version is your truck on? PM me the VIN so I can take a look and see what you're in for.Howdy y'all. I can't even begin to explain how awesome I think all the info in this thread is. Longtime lurker in this forum but finally created an account. I'm going to give the whole FDRS updates thing a try this week. Mongoose cable should be here day after tomorrow. Hoping it all goes well and I don't have to pester anyone. I've spent the last hour+ going through probably a hundred pages of this thread trying to get an idea of what to expect. Mostly hoping for 3 things - restarts my OTA updates (if Ford is even doing those anymore for my truck), better battery efficiency, and hopefully better shifting. I don't have a complete lack of faith in the 10 speed, but the downshifts into 3rd and 1st are certainly not confidence-inspiring, so curious to see what changes in how the truck behaves. I'll update here once I get into things, hopefully just with good news.
Thank you sir! Sent a PM with the VIN.Welcome to the forum. We'll be happy to help you along the way. What Sync version is your truck on? PM me the VIN so I can take a look and see what you're in for.
Got your message. Your truck is on Sync 23159 and the modules with pending updates are below. You are not showing and pending updates for the GWM, APIM or TCU, so your truck seems to be affected by a known issue where the updates needed for you to fully update the truck have not been released by Ford for you. There is currently no way around this. It is possible that when you can the truck with FDRS, that one of these updates will release and you will be able to fully update, but most likely, that will not be the case. You will be able to update all the ones you see below except the BCM that will ask you for credentials you don't have.Thank you sir! Sent a PM with the VIN.
PM me the VIN. @Ajzride knows his stuff, but I'll be happy to look and see if I see anything helpful.I've got an issue updating my modules. I had Ajzride helping me with updating to get better control with the Comma 3X. I went through some updates, got to the BCMC and now my truck will not update. I get a Drive Control Fault Service Required. The FDRS software says unable to execute diagnostic service 0x19 when trying to update the BCMC. I see in the thread don't touch the BCM afterwards but nothing on the BCMC. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit:
I'm back in the green. I kept getting connection issues. Got the prompt to say retry or no. Hit no, and it still went with the update. Everything looks good so far. I shit my pants and am done for the day. Haha
Major bummer. I had really hoped to get those modules updated. Guess I'll do the rest of them and see if anything changes. Might as well hook up to my wife's 2021 Nautilus and see what updates she's got too. She also hasn't received on OTA update in a hot minute.Got your message. I feel your pain. I finally tried like you to do the FDRS updates on my '21 a couple weeks ago, and am missing the same updates I was also hoping for. On the same Sync version as you too.Major bummer. I had really hoped to get those modules updated. Guess I'll do the rest of them and see if anything changes. Thanks for checking!
I've disabled so many CMR's on 24s I'm starting to loose count ?No, you cannot have your cake and eat it, too. If you disable the CMR, you render BC useless.
Ha ha... that is exactly the idea I had when I first wrapped my head around it. It just a simple camera essentially, so feed it what it wants to see and... but ya, I'm not near savvy enough to figure that out.Sure it wouldn't be too hard for someone to make a device to spoof what the camera sees --- essentially just loop a feed that makes it happy.
You just need a really high resolution printer to make a really tiny picture of yourself watching the road.I've disabled so many CMR's on 24s I'm starting to loose count ?

Which would be a completely ignorant thing to do. Do you actually think this level 2 autonomous system will be as safe without the camera on the driver? Do you NOT understand WHY BlueCruise is only level 2?Sure it wouldn't be too hard for someone to make a device to spoof what the camera sees --- essentially just loop a feed that makes it happy.
