i KNOW.Yeah I'll get on it now. That comment was more tongue in cheek on my part. Thanks for spotting that sir! Updates are perpetual!

There is quite a bit more risk with the VCX around the CCM module and any module chained with it. I was able to update most modules with my Nano with no issues.Man my previous question got completely steam rolled... any opinions or meaningful differences between the VCX and the Mongoose?
That was kinda my line of thinking, but without having it explicitly stated, I was still torn on which to buy. With this kind of clear cut statement, I'll just pony up the extra moneyThere is quite a bit more risk with the VCX around the CCM module and any module chained with it. Bought a mongoose and never had any issues after.
Would recommend a mongoose to play it safe and I'm sure others here would agree.
I would refer to the first post of this thread for your answer. The VCX is harder to use due to not being able to perform network scans without corrupting data. It also says you can't update the CCM without possibly bricking the module, and then you need a Mongoose to recover it. Refer to appendix 5 for details on that. When I read that, I opted for the Mongoose from the get-go.Man my previous question got completely steam rolled... any opinions or meaningful differences between the VCX and the Mongoose?
I guess I misread that bold portion, I was under the impression it was more difficult but not necessarily impossible. That’s a good idea. The chaining of updates really makes selective programming to avoid the modules the Nano can’t handle an impractical and unsound strategy. See the discussion around Posts 2524 and 3296. You are far better off ponying up for the Mongoose. One unexpected module the Nano can’t handle chained to another you wanted to update and you’ll be buying a Mongoose anyway. That was kinda my line of thinking, but without having it explicitly stated, I was still torn on which to buy. At the risk of too much optimism, I predict used Mongoose adapters to be available on Ebay soon.I guess I misread that bold portion, I was under the impression it was more difficult but not necessarily impossible. Thanks for the input fellas
I keep checking but haven't found one yet... Wanna sell yours? At the risk of too much optimism, I predict used Mongoose adapters to be available on Ebay soon.![]()
I rather keep it, use it for ForScan and still have the capability of FDRS. Dealers aren't gonna do an update just because but I sure as heck will.At the risk of too much optimism, I predict used Mongoose adapters to be available on Ebay soon.![]()
If your in here reading this thread, bite the bullet. It's a tool for you tool box.I keep checking but haven't found one yet... Wanna sell yours?![]()
I started this last week, and no one has responded. You are welcome to be the first:I keep checking but haven't found one yet... Wanna sell yours?![]()
List is quite a bit longer than that. Last I looked, the following modules in addition to the WACM can’t be updated OTA, so you’ll need FDRS:There are modules in these trucks that can't be updated without FDRS and a cable is my understanding - something like the Wireless charging pad. I know that thing is basically useless anyway, but word is that that module was updated for the MachE and maybe the Lightning. Maybe for ICE too some day. I believe the name is WCAM.
