There is zero doubt that they are routing stuff to the Lightnings vs the ICE trucks. I have no issues with EVs, but I think they have gone about it wrong by alienating their traditional customer base
I agree. Putting ICE retail order customers in competition with EV retail order customers outside of some fair order-of-merit build methodology is pure hogwash. I plan on keeping my 21XLT (or the 22XLT I ordered) for the duration... I hope either works trouble-free into the future. But dealing with Ford for another purchase in the long-term future, after experiencing these conditions, NFW! I think not much of their CEO - celebrating EV at expense of ICE! F*** him.

How are you folks so sure that is what is happening?
It's like the suggestion is taking on a life of its own.

Ford builds more ICE F150's in 2 weeks than the entire model year of 2022 Lightnings.

I’m done accepting drops. I ordered a Platinum for a reason. Build what you accepted on my order or wait until you can.
The Navigation removal isn't happening to the Platinum, King Ranch, or Limited trims.

Just got this email from my dealer:

I am currently scheduled for June 6th on a 501a PowerBoost.

Has anyone else heard about this? I was likely only going to be using my phone BUT my real concern is about how this might affect resale value later on. In no way does $200 cover navigation being removed.

Edit: From another forum this is supposedly from the dealer notice from Ford.
They are correct. Memo came out last Monday or Tuesday.

The CEO stated that they would ensure that chips were routed to the Lightnings to help prevent issues and make for a successful launch

But they build Ford Mavericks and F250's and Escapes and Broncos.

Spreading chips across the global Ford manufacturing is far from a anti-F150 approach.

In fact, the resources allocated to the F150 are probably more than all other models combined.

No way, man. Stop peddling your elitist logic and reason. ICE truck orders are victims of a woke conspiracy. ?

Stopped in my dealer this AM. The sales manager pulled up their email from Ford right in front of me. It stated that the next batch of F-150 orders with 501A packages and lower will not be able to order Nav/Sirius/XM.
My Platinum order stands with my 701A package minus the countour seats and park assist.

Here's my gripe.....
It's one thing to state in writing what Ford has officially "deleted", but it's another thing entirely to put into writing a CLEAR understanding of what IS actually deleted.

The confusion is 100% a result of terrible marketing names and descriptions.

Read the article from just this morning of an attempt to clarify the same Navigation feature(s) on the Bronco

https://fordauthority.com/2022/05/2022-ford-bronco-factory-navigation-removal-details-revealed/

"Connected Navigation" VS "Connected Built-in Navigation"?

Seriously? So the consumer is expected to not only pick up on the fact that those are NOT the same thing, but then when each is described in detail, there's STILL no clear differences. It's actually laughable if you can avoid being irritated.

Excerpt :

Connected Navigation – which is included in the Mid Package – includes features such as a 90-day trial and subscription navigation, Pinch-to-Zoom Capability, Live Traffic, Predictive Destinations and Route Guidance, One Box Search, Embedded Voice, and future use of the FordPass Performance App, which has faced a bit of a delay as Ford works through its kinks.

Meanwhile, Connected Built-In Navigation – which is available on the Mid and High Packages and comes standard on the Lux Package – includes a three-year trial and subscription navigation, Pinch-to-Zoom Capability, Live Traffic, Predictive Destinations and Route Guidance, One Box Search, Embedded Voice, and the future use of the FordPass Performance App.

One of those is worth $50
The other is $650

Can you guess? ???

Copilot 360 assist.... VS Copilot 360 blah blah
The marketing folks, or whoever decides on the naming conventions for features at Ford are horrible at product differentiation. A fundamental marketing skill.

THIS?

I have never owned a Ford (until this order). As I was building my truck online, I was massively confused on what all of these similar terms meant. Coming from 20 years in the GM world I was lost without talking to a knowledgeable dealer. Is that the point?

Same here but in reverse - I’ve owned Ford cars, trucks, and SUVs predominantly over the years. With the order delays I took a peek or two at a GMC online… after years of learning Ford’s “language” and how they package stuff the GMC/Chevy stuff is confusing as all get out to me. Guess it’s just what we get accustomed to?

I have browsed the Ram forums and it's true, they speak their own vocabulary as well. While I haven't mastered their acronyms, it was easy to see the similarities in confusion on restraints, drops, schedule delays, dealership doublespeak......

We consumers are not in a good bargaining position right now, other than if we throw the "I'll just wait this out" card.
Which IS a card in our hand.

Yes. Time is a valuable tool. I would hate to NEED a new truck RIGHT NOW. I really feel bad for the guys on here that might bang nails for a living and are nursing along an old truck because they can't get a new work truck without being raked over the coals on an in stock unit or waiting a year for an order. Perspective.

Bingo!

This is not an accident, it’s by design and often the terminology is deliberately baroque in an effort to make you dependent on the dealership ‘experts,’ just in the same manner that back in feudal Germany before Martin Luther; you could only get a bible in latin.

The language being different between manufacturers is also to both encourage tribalism and enable another trademark. So we often have identical systems with completely different names.
