Curious.. do you need this subscription for Blue Cruise to work? So.. you need two subs actually? I would hope that it's included if you pay for BC.
I am thinking it will be two separate subscriptions because if you don't pay the nav subscription you still have a moving map but just lose the ability to enter a specific destination. Since the blue cruise does not need any specific destination to work you do not need the subscription for nav to make it function properly.

Ahh.. makes sense. For some reason I was thinking that Blue Cruise needed to know your destination. (Had to remind myself it's not Tesla "AutoPilot" lol).

I do not think $80 per year is outrageous compared to some other fees out there (GM/OnStar specifically) if you want to use the Ford system. My 2013 KR uses old school flash media that costs over $100 for an annual update, although I can still use the navigation, set destinations, without updating every year on it. Plus, now there is always the option of Android Auto, Carplay, Waze, etc.

I am curious whether Ford's navigation subscription effects the availability of other navigation-related items, such as speed limit display in the main instrument cluster. I believe it does in the GM/OnStar system and, as I recall, the only way around in a GM is to subscribe to OnStar at a monthly cost of $25 or more, or to tether your phone to the system each time you get in the vehicle.

To each their own. As much as I believe in this, and try as one might to explain, I'll never understand one paying Ford a subscription for navigation.
As long as I continue to get the map, I am fine. I never use navigation on the F150, but I think the map display is really nice. I use Apple or Google maps for navigation.

I agree, $80 per year for currents maps and other info is fine with me.

I always use Waze. It has up to date traffic information and can sometimes even tell you when there's police up ahead. The Ford navigation is OK but having a subscription fee it doesn't make any sense when there are better options out there that are free. Just my humble opinion.

It'd be nice if the factory nav could just be deleted. It's probably consuming a non-zero amount of resources even when not loaded. android auto is my default screen and maps is persistent (this is all drawn by the phone, not the head unit --- It's a video input of sorts the head unit is displaying, not rendering -- big distinction). The only monthly sub worth anything IMO is when you're able to get the $15/mo ATT unlimited data. Unfortunately you must be USB connected for the phone to work on which isn't a big deal to plug in if you've got a good cord routing solution already in place. I don't use wireless charging and my phone is set to only charge to 85% by default. The phone defaults to wifi calling which has superior coverage via the truck than the phone does with its antennas. Helps in hilly terrain where coverage can be spotty.

Works great with a laptop or desktop usage on the go. I've got a multi-GPU rig that I'll put in the truck that can perform signals intelligence that raises some eyebrows testing wifi encryption.

I use Waze a vast majority of the time, so for me it isn't really necessary. I could see that with the new trucks having an option of a heads up display, the Ford nav could displays directions up on the windshield- that could be a bigger benefit. I believe mine shows the directions in the instrument cluster, but I never use it so not 100% on that.

Got my email Mar 15, connected navigation services expire on Apr 15, and it is only a measly $120.00 CDN a year to keep it going., here in the great white North. Got the truck in August 2023 so only got 8 months trial if that!

I think this move is so ford can ensure all new vehicles are remotely connected and accessible. As for the speed limit on the IPC, most of these have speed limit sign recognition and that wouldn't stop working. I'm not a fan of them moving in this direction. I get paying for updates, I think they do that so they can still support older systems. But paying for Nav? It should be included in the 50k plus price of these trucks.

Well, I received an e-mail from Ford last month informing me that the Connected Built-In Navigation in my 2021 F-150 has expired after three years.

I did not pay the $80 to renew, because I can still use the Sync 4 map’s Destination feature, with turn-by-turn directions to the places I need to drive to on my extended road trips.

it still works, so I’m happy as it is.

The navigation ran out on my stx but you still have an interactive map, so if you have an idea where something is you can find your way to it like the old days with maps. It’s enough to keep you from getting lost, you can still find anything like highways etc if you do not have phone service and get lost. I didn’t bother paying the subscription, it still is interactive and can navigate you manually if an emergency situation requires it. Other than that, the phone was much better than connected navigation, and Siri tells me when a cop is shooting radar :ROFLMAO:
Also continuously upgraded with new roads, etc.
