I saw this video a few days ago and while I'm not going to speculate on the cause, I will say that is an impressive level of destruction.

I tuned my Mustang EB 10R80 with a Cobb stage 2 tune and am very happy with it, runs great, 33mpg on highway.
With my 2023 2.7 XL I am leaving well enough alone. This truck runs soooo much better than my 2017 3.5 NA that I just don't want to take any chances; this is a work truck and reliability. I've blown up cars before (2 boosted Focus cars) and I know where too much takes you lol

I got a grenaded 15:1 compression 572 big block chrysler engine years ago. Guy accidentally disabled the rev limited and overevved it. It probably saw 10k+ rpm. It didn't look NEARLY as bad as what happened to this ecoboost! (The block was aluminum and therefore repairable.)

The 3.5 EcoBoost and 3.3 Duratec share the same mediocre at best connecting rods. I cringe when I see people doing these crazy tunes for 500+ horsepower etc….the main bearings and connecting rods will let loose at those power levels at some point or another. Tuning in general is safe, but these extreme tunes are not very safe. That engine is all ready running at the cusp of its internal power holding capabilities for a good service life from the factory. You can crank up the juice, but you pay with a shortened lifespan. The 3.5 EB is a great motor from the factory even at stock power levels. I guess it’s still not enough for some lol.
I’m pretty sure ford uses factory long block in their gt race car that has over 700hp definitely different cams and fuel delivery and turbos. I’m under the impression with a quality tune and good maintenance 550-600 crank hp is pretty much in the reliable zone.

Agreed. These trucks shift worse than my old 1991 Geo Prism.
I felt the same way until I had my truck tuned. No longer skips gears, never looks for gears. I used MPT and had amazing results both trans and engine. I took advice of free tune adjustments and got my trans shifting exactly how I wanted it. One tune was a little soft. One tune the shifts were so firm I was chirping 4th now it’s perfect. It will shift super smooth in light driving and will chirp second and 3rd if I’m frisky lol

I won't debate your quoted figures as you may be correct, I am no authority there. On the GT it's mostly marketing, the block casting is the only thing that is truly the same as rotating assembly is different. Different specialized crankshaft and rods, and forged pistons versus the factory hyper pistons. If you take out all the guts and replace them it is no longer "factory" imo. It is no more "factory" than the Mustang GT3 5.0 Ford ran in Le-Mans GT3 this year that was called "factory". Sure it was a stock 5.0 block, but specialty forged endurance innards...same as a stock 3.5 versus a GT 3.5.

I would be willing to bet very few spending $1,000,000+ on a Ford GT want a stock EcoBoost with hyper cast pistons, even the thought of that is a bit silly to me. Much like a GT-500 owner getting a stronger engine than a Mustang GT, similar for sure but not exact.
