If you can get around $10,000 off original sticker I think you're doing well. I was gung ho to go new until I started getting quotes even from Granger and they are insanely priced for 2024. No thanks unless we get incentives increased.

Used one to two years old is starting to be a better deal if you can find it. Currently I'm starting to see really nice 302A XLTs that I would be interested in when the time comes for 10,000 or more off their original MSRP. And that puts them nearly $10,000 below ordering a new lower trim truck today all else equal.

Best of luck with what you decide.

Stay away from Powerboost if you can.
Nothing wrong with Powerboost - you just got a bad truck. It can happen on any model. I love my Powerboost, especially when I need electricity in remote locations.

Hey guys, I am considering buying a ford gold certified 2023 XLT Powerboost but I was researching and can across the SSN issue among other miscellaneous issues. I was wondering if it is still a good buy. I do not want to buy and then run into these issues and regret my decision. Thanks
I highly recommend a PB, especially when/if you need electricity in remote locations. I have used a wielding machine to fix a metal gate waaay off in the woods. There's nothing wrong with the PB's but I agree with the others here, research the VIN and if nothing is found, it will be a great buy.

It is amazing how quickly things change, isn't it? It was only months ago that people were paying several thousand over sticker for things like a base XL maverick before it even arrived on the lot, and now we are right back to 10 grand off sticker with lots ( and overflow lots ) filled with trucks.

I recently made the decision to trade my 2017 XLT for a new 2023 equivalent, and I ended up in the neighborhood of 9K off sticker after all was said and done.

It sure is, and what is exciting me is that even though prices are elevated on the used side, the more that new trucks are discounted it's going to put more downward pressure on the newer used trucks.

I would love to buy new, but I really like the 21-23 setup and if I could find a 22-23 in another year or so with very low under 25,000 miles, I would be scooping that puppy up in a heartbeat for the right price.

The tide is definitely changing. Congrats on the new rig Hope you have great luck with it!

Fine, then don't buy one.

But, there are also a large percent can use the electricity (farmers, construction, anyone who works/plays outside) and if buying a truck, having the built in generator is much cheaper than buying a 7.2 KW generator that has to be hauled around. Have you ever owned a PB or just stating your opinion on a topic you know nothing about?

Mine has been fine but its a 21 XLT. It seems like the 21's have less issues than the 22 and 23's (which makes no sense to me). If ithe 23 has Max Tow option it could have axel bolt issues. There are a number of other issues that seem to pop up, like software issues, reduced power messages, issues with windows not being able to stay in the up position. I do love mine, just dig into what the potential issues are and whether you are willing to possibly deal with them. I feel it is a great vehicle but the 22 and 23's were voted as the most unreliable vehicles by Consumer Reports (I'm pretty sure it was Consumer Reports). There are many people on this site that have had no issues. They have so much technology they are like rolling computers, lets hope yours is Windows 10 or 11 and not Windows 95 or Vista. I'm not trying to talk you out of it because I feel they are great trucks. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. Just read as much as you can.

Warranty history is blank. No Fordpass account connected to the truck to check for any error codes it may be reporting. The only open FSA is:

  • 23B24 INSPECTION OF TAILGATE STEP HANDLE AND REPLACEMENT

Whoever had it before never took it to a dealer for any problems. Unless it was taken in to the dealer a few weeks ago and the work order hasn't been posted to PTS yet, it just seems like whoever bought it just didn't like it.
Maybe the just brought it to a local mechanic but I doubt that. In FordPass i'm pretty sure where service updates can be added even by a non-ford shop (I could be wrong about this). I brought mine in for the tailgate failure and they didn't fix it because it's not a official recall just a campaign. They told me if the tailgate opens and I lose things out of the bed that Ford would pay for it. I thought that was completely dumb. They should of just fixed it. Seemed like a bs answer. Depending on how old the PB was it might of only needed an oil change and tire rotation. Seems weird FordPass had nothing.

Someone from New York bought it. Not sure if coincidence or not.
