The truck just contains the wiring. The connection dongle is what's shown in the last 2 photos. That way I can use the NOCO in another vehicle by just connecting the clamps that came with it.
so the Noco is connected outside of the truck via via the extension cord?

The NOCO resides on my workbench and connects to the truck's dongle with the 6ft. NOCO output cord. It is off the floor and the hood stays closed during charging.

I tried a Schumacher battery maintainer and hoped it would fix the problem with overnight draining of the H7 battery in my truck. It did not work as the parasitic draw was far to great to be offset with a maintainer.

i'm deciding between NOCO 2D for direct mount near the battery, and NOCO 10 or NOCO 5 for portable mount (can be placed inside my garage with cable running out to the truck). what are the pros and cons and which one is easier to install?

The NOCO 2D is for lead acid. Can it be used on AGM. (Might be a dumb question) Anyway I would recommend getting the NOCO 10 and a wiring harness. I leave the wiring harness on the battery so it is really easy to connect when I need to charge. Then I can use the charger for other vehicles. When not in use I keep it under the backseat

I have a Noco installed under the hood. It was a replacement for me needing to get the Clore out and hooked up for an overnight charge everytime I witnessed the resting voltage dropping down in the 12.2-12.3V range.

After swapping in a new H7 under the hood, and an LFP under the passenger seat, I've never had to use either charger. I should pull that Noco out so I can use it on other vehicles in the future.

Will NOCO 10 be overkill for just battery maintenance purpose? Will Genius 5 be a better option just to trickle charge the battery at low amp?

i'm leaning toward NOCO 5 for the cost and my need. yours is NOCO 10, do you know if 5 can be mounted outside the truck like you did with 10?

I believe it can . Additionally, external unit will let you use it on other vehicles with the supplied battery clamps

To give you an idea, my enclosed trailer came with a Noco10, and it is a large deep cycle lead acid battery. I just put an aftermarket AGM battery in my Harley and it specifically requires 3 Amps minimum so I got a Noco5. The Noco 5 will also fully charge or trickle charge my F150, just takes longer to fully charge than a Noco10 would. So minimum I would go with a Noco5. I have 2 battery tenders that are very old that I only use to trickle charge other lead acid batteries over the winter, however they were never designed for AGM batteries; I don't know about the newer ones. Everyone I know switched over from the battery tenders to the Nocos.

Noco 2D for the win. Not just for lead acid. Also for AGM and gel batteries. I have one on each and every one of my vehicles. Not a single Ford battery-related issue. Not one.

finally this weekend i will install the Noco 5. i will route the extension cord from the battery terminals out through the lower windshield area to connect with Noco5 via more extension cord. Noco 5 will be inside the garage while the truck parked outside the garage. we drive the truck about 2 times a week for 50 mile round trip each time.

1. should i connect Noco 5 to the truck all the time? will it hurt the car battery if it's connected all the time to a battery tender?

2. what amp should i set?

3. by connected to the 12V battery, does it also trickle charge the 6V auxiliary battery?

The auxiliary battery is 12V also.
And I do have my Noco 5 ring terminals permanently connected to the AGM under the hood. Since the 2 batteries are connected 99% of the time, the Noco would be charging both batteries.

Note that I haven't plugged (powered) the Noco in for months now. I probably should just remove it from the truck at this point.

The manual suggest that you’ll be fine to leave the charger on all the time. For reference, I have a 14 year old optima yellow top battery and charger that I leave on all the time. It’s still reporting 100%.

They make this without amp setting. It will do what it needs to do to charge the battery, up to 5amps. I never cared about charge rate until I got several hundred ah of lithium batteries. Now I’m disappointed with my noco10. All you need to do is make sure it’s set to AGM and it’ll take care of the rest.
