Bring y'all's trucks to JAX, they get the parts same or next day around here fo the temp fix. Have had both sides done months apart and both were done within a day.
If it takes weeks to get the passenger side fixed, I’d be more than willing to drive my truck up there to get the driver’s side done.

I appreciate getting a new car for a loaner, but there is nothing like driving a Bronco to constantly remind me why I love my F-150 so much.

Just got my F150 back, took it in over three weeks ago for the other recall and they found the broken bolt and wouldn't let me drive it home. They kept telling me they had no idea how long or when the part would come, I called them every few days. Yesterday they called and told me it was done. I had called the day before and they said they still didn't have an eta on the part.

The truck is still showing as needing a recall repair "remedy not yet available" on the ford recall site. So I don't think this is a permanent fix, although the dealer couldn't confirm one way or the other when I picked it up.

One note, if you have a truck that gets repaired, check the hydraulic hoses on the driver side around the axel after the repair. I had a couple that were not put back in the little plastic clip holders and were just hanging down. I'm guessing the tech was just lazy. They also scratched two of the lug nut holes on one of the rims. I won't be going back to this dealer. There are only two dealers close to here and I've had issues at both.

Its good to see some of you have dealers that care. On my end this was extremely frustrating. The dealer refused to give any kind of loaner or approve a rental. They said per the recall it was not approved. I had to spend over 4 hours on the phone over several days with Ford care to get them to approve a rental. They only approved $40 a day and it had to be a Ford. I called over half a dozen rental agencies around here and I couldn't find a rental place that would guarantee a ford or be able to offer a car for $40 a day. In the end I gave up and just borrowed my retired parents extra car.

Thanks for sharing your story. I’ll definitely check the hydraulic hoses. No matter where I go, I’ve learned over the years to never have blind faith in anyone working on my vehicle. Many years ago I discovered where a mechanic didn’t even change my oil filter after an oil change. Now, while still at the dealership, I put my initials on it, check the oil level, and check the bolt underneath to make sure it’s on tight. When I got my new truck last year I specially asked them to double-check all fluid levels at my first oil change at 2,000 miles and was promised they were good. That was on the Quick Lane side. Something didn’t feel right so I checked when I got home. Turns out the rear differential was low.

Anyhow, did they just repair the damaged side of did they repair both? Some people are getting both sides fixed when a bolt breaks, others just the damaged side. If they only did one, that could also explain the open recall.

Inexcusable

It wounds the brand one customer at a time. So hard to amend after such apathy too.

Problem is, we are talking about pickup trucks and it's a tossup whether another branded dealership will treat the customer better.

The industry is amazingly disfunctional these days.

They replaced both sides.

It is amazing that some dealers can keep their business model going with p--- poor service... I find my self really lucky to have found a good one. Lithia Ford of Idaho Falls, ID.

Dealership just called me and said parts came in today (3 weeks & 3 days) and the truck is repaired. Getting cleaned and detailed so I'm getting it tomorrow.

Warranty procedure pays like 30 minutes per side.
If you have the impact and socket, the assembly slides right out after removing the 4 bolts and the 2 caliper bolts.
Caliper bolts have to be replaced with new.

And I think they are technically supposed to check and top off differential fluid.

Glad to hear you’re finally getting your truck back. If I am on the same timeline, I guess I have 3 weeks and 1 day to go…. ?

If the inspection reveals no broken bolt on either axle, the truck waits for the forthcoming TSB.

Or put another way, a parts order for replacement axles will be denied.
That's the way it reads anyway.
Can't someone "force" the issue by accidentally over torquing their axle bolt and shearing it?

Absolutely. How would anyone be able to tell the difference?

But it wouldn't be my strategy.
Rather I'd be aiming to fix the potential issue before it can happen.

Remove the OEM axle bolt and replace it with an alternative bolt. And then change them out as often as you feel like. They are inexpensive and takes mere minutes to swap out when you rotate your tires.

Got the truck back, here are the parts they replaced. Got a new battery too. This last battery lasted 24 months. This is now the 3rd battery. They checked the rear seat battery, but it tested good so no replacement on that one.

Blows my mind they have the right parts to keep building new trucks, but don't to fix the broken ones that they already got paid for and claim they are waiting for parts. What's the point of buying a new truck at full price when one only needs to wait a few years and let someone else deal with the Fu..ups, recalls etc.. at 20% discount.

Does anyone know what Ford changed in Jan 2023 and later production trucks to 'solve' this issue? Officially there is no permanent fix, so why are the later trucks not covered or impacted?
