Some recent update I got last month has changed cruise behavior. Used to be that engaging cruise and lane keep were not connected in any way. Now when cruise is enable, lane keep comes on automatically and it has to be disabled every time. I like to use cruise on my commute in traffic and in no way want lane keep. Don't get me wrong, lane keep is great for highway trips at times, but not daily. Is there a setting in the center stack to disable this or a forscan setting so lane keep has to be enabled by itself separate from cruise ?

No. This has been covered in threads already where people want to sell the truck because of it. It is a software feature now. I can tell you the lane keeping is 100% better with the new software at holding center of lane.

yes, you can disable it, located in center screen

No, you can't, it will turn back on every time cruise is activated with current software. It will have to be manually turned off every time it is not wanted.

I completely understand stand some instances not using lane centering

For me, I suffer from "hey squirrel " and tend to drift the direction my old eye look.
For me it gets my attention to refocus on staying in my lane.
Our roads are mainly 2 lane farm to market or county roads and they dint leave much room for me taking my half in the middle.
Obtw my 23 explorer is same way
And since ford can't seem to make all the steering wheel buttons the same .... I turn it off often by mistake as well as cruise

Ah, finally a reason to celebrate not ever getting updates. That would be an annoyance for me to have to turn it off every time I hit cruise. Also seems like another thing to take focus off the raod long enough to cause an accident.

The old lane keeping was annoying with holding right side of lane and the constant weave. The updated software feels much better not having to fight truck. I bought truck with the feature to use it so I don't mind at all.

I've never had an issue with it wandering or not centering in 30 months of ownership. The issue is not wanting it enabled WITH cruise by default. It would be like turning on the heated seats anytime the temp is set at 72 degrees or higher. Not everyone wants their butts on fire with the cabin at 72. Sometimes is it nice to have heated seats, but not by default year round.

Yeah I know many are upset about it. The other threads lasted for weeks of complaining. It is a permanent change in the software to turn on lane keeping when cruise is turned on. I expect this is the behavior of all 2024 as well. You'll get used to pushing two buttons on wheel when you turn on cruise to turn it off. No other option for you.

On way home from work, enabled cruise.... then turned off cruise and the LKA stay enabled. So even after turning cruise off, still had to manually turn off LKA. So I guess the LKA haters and lovers have to manually turn it off no matter what. We can enjoy this hell together. :)

There must be some sort of workaround like switching the ground of one of the cameras with a single pole single throw switch?

I know that when we have an especially dusty week here in the desert and I haven’t cleaned my truck, the lane centering won’t work, even when I want it to but the cruise control will stay on with an error message that says lane centering is unavailable, or the bubble around the little truck icon in the center screen won’t turn green or whatever color means it’s working.

Sport Mode enables 4A on this Gen14, where it didn't on my Gen13.
I usually switch it back to 2H.

Bundling features aren't my preference. But I'm used to having a preflight check list with these crazy tech laden machines.

Once the cabin is comfortable, 67 degrees + heated seat + massage = the only way to put miles on the truck ;)

Honestly, I like it. It adds a touch of laziness with a safety layer.

You want to to look at that squirrel on the side of the road for a second or two? It's got ya.

I initially hated it, but I have grown to like it. ?‍♂
