I’ve updated and no errors. Appears it is working but don’t see the menu option. Here are my settings. Did I miss anything?

Changes to the APIM (Sync) menus take a power cycle or two to show up. The easiest / quickest way to make that happen is go to the wrench icon in FORScan and do a module reset on the APIM. It will cause the screen to restart and you should see Glare Free in place of the auto high beam selection.

The module does not power down immediately after turning off the ignition. The truck has to sit for awhile for it to happen “naturally”.

I am very impressed with them. There is no down side. The animation sort of exaggerates the visual. The transitions are much smoother in reality, but it definitely manipulates the lights just right so that everything is more illuminated except for other vehicles. It keeps the light just short of approaching or leading vehicles.

If you try it, you won’t go back.

im veryimpressed as well and agree that once you use them, going back or to a different vehicle

I agree, this is one of the most impactful forscan changes you make. It makes the lights in my other vehicles (which have auto high beams) seem terrible. Best way I describe it is that the lights are no longer a distraction because the fade in and out and fill the scene so much better.

One thing I would say could be better is that the high beams don’t turn on until about 35 mph and turn off below 15 mph or so. The stock auto high beams had the same problem and I wish that could be changed.

I hope that as some deeper parts of the various modules are mapped, we will be able to change that is well. There are several speed related inhibits I would like to remove, but I do not think anyone has gotten there yet. I have my suspicions on where they might live, but until we get more info we are stuck with them.

For those not comfortable with Forscan, another hack to enable anti-glare is to move to Canada and buy a truck here. I had no idea my truck even had this option until seeing this thread, and couldn’t figure out the weird and confusing highbeam dimming. Now that I know what’s going on, I’m impressed. I can’t imagine this not being rolled out OTA on US trucks.

So perhaps a foolish question. The only ForScan updates I have done is adding the temp display to the gague cluster which compared to this is easy.

Can I make all the changes at once or is it better to make all the changes in a module save that module then move to the next?

Not a foolish question at all.

You will need to make the changes one module at a time. Forscan doesn’t have an option to write multiple modules at once. Even if it did, I’m not sure I would use it for something like this.

Just ran through this and have the option, but boy did it feel like a lot of changes for 1 setting! A little nerve-wracking, but excited to see it work!

I tried to make the glare free lighting changes today, and I was able to get everything done successfully except the IPMA. I kept getting an error for service procedure interrupted when trying to connect to make the change. I didn't have issues with any other module. I am using a Bluetooth ELM327 adapter (it's a legit version, not a China clone), but do have an ODBLink cable on order. Using the latest version of Forscan, 2.3.44. I did notice that I have no factory as-built data saved for the module, so I must have had the same issue a couple months ago too.

Anyone have any ideas? The good news (I think) is that there are no codes or faults showing up yet, just not sure what the IPMA change does. The cable will be here tomorrow, so if no one knows what the issue may be, I'll try again tomorrow with the different adapter.

I think you are the first one to report an issue writing the ipma for this mod. Several have reported not seeing the ipma after a OTA update.
The camera is used to identify the headlight / tail lights of the other vehicles, the setting change tells it you are using glare free lighting so the HCM receives the correct information.

A couple of general suggestions to try:

1. When you first connect to the vehicle select “No” when forescan asks if you would like to use a previous profile. forscan will scan the truck for modules. Then try to make the change. Some of the OTA updates have caused issues with previous FORScan profiles.

2. If the above doesn’t fix the issue for you. Go to the wrench icon in forscan and do a module reset on the ipma. This will cause the module to power cycle and then try to write the change.

I actually tried #1 at first. I did have to set up a new profile anyway as I redid my Surface a week or two ago. Even tried it again just to be sure. Just tried resetting the IPMA and no change. The little progress bar gets to 28% and then stops ?

Well that’s unfortunate. Since you already have the oblink on the way, I would try again once that arrives.

@Livnitup are there plans to add this to the forscan spreadsheet, or is that for more “vetted” procedures?

Well, first thing, not making the changes to the IPMA seemed to make glare free behave like standard auto high beams this morning on my way to work. It could have been that it was just light enough for auto high beams not to work, but it only cycles a few times and looked like what I had previously.

Second, got my cable today and was able to connect to and make the change for the IPMA. Not sure what my Bluetooth adapter didn't like about it, but it is the first time I've had an issue with it, other than connection latency. Can't wait to see the glare free lighting in action tomorrow.

They are incredible. Every new vehicle should have them as standard lights going forward.
