Alright, so which one of you Forscan gurus who added adaptive lighting can test this somehow...not sure it's a actually feasible TO test, but would be interesting.

it would be a pain in the ass to test. then again maybe not for someone else b/c i wont get any help from the mrs to test haha

but i would think you'd need a dark road and someone filming and i know mine turn on around 30mph so youd have to go by someone filming at 30mph and hope they catching whatever is happening when glare free activates.

It will be really nice if someone cracks the code on this...
On my friend's Mercedes GLS, the headlights do really interesting things.. On dark roads, the lights literally move the beams around.. You can see them move as you drive..

if you’re referring to the lights moving in the direction of the way your steering wheel is then yea i’ve heard of that feature on some of the higher end vehicles.

My Lariat has the projectors that move with the steering already...
The GLS is something totally different!

The Ford LED projectors have the ability for glare free adaptive headlights which shield the high beam in areas of oncoming cars but keep it on for other areas. This can be turned on with Forscan. GLS can't do this in the US but will no doubt get that ability in the next few years.

Resurrecting this thread because I'm still curious if the answer to this has ever been determined and I can't find another thread on this.

On the projector headlights, it appears that both bulbs are lit on high and low beams, but the lower bulb is always brighter. Does anyone know the specific purpose of each of the bulbs? Or is the top one the glare-free like mentioned previously?

@Snakebitten would you know?

My pleasure :)

And you were correct.
All 4 beams are on all the time.

Thsts a darn good explanation
I had no idea the beams can be adjusted based on speed
Now they need to expand the glare free like that

Long gone are the bad old days when all that was needed to fix the head lights was to pop out the bad bulb and pop in a new one.

This is also why, when getting the VIP for the truck, I also got interior/exterior light replacement.
