Lmao...that bot jumps in every thread. Headed to dealer on my way home from work. Just to see what they say. Then calling corporate. I'm just so sick of garbage quality and customer service. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong this time.

Corporate will pull my file and instantly go "crap, not this guy again". Haha
Did they ever address this or fix for you? I just noticed I have a similar situation when I got up on my bed today. Space white

Ford won't cover it as I'm past the 36k bumper warranty. The perforation aspect won't cover it as theres no holes in the body. Last month they said they can't even get me in for an estimate until March. Ford QC and CS is an absolute joke. They provide a garbage product and charge a premium product. I'm going to have a local body shop fix it.

Really sucks. ☹
Out of sight a good touch up paint kit with primer and all for a DIY. Paint shop could do it for more money.

yeah, sure does blow. Sorry you have to experience that @AnthemMike. I had a paint issue on the roof, but never got to posting about it. Certainly not intending to grind you since Ford isn't fixing your problem, but here is what happened to me. Sorry, long winded.....

My truck is a '22 Space White Supercrew, got it in August of last year. We had a record setting rain season last year so I never got to wash the new truck until like May of this year. And didn't get to wax it until June. Upon waxing the roof, I found small blemish, maybe the size of an oblong stretched out quarter. More like a like a snot rocket. LOL! Pictures below. Of course it was in THE MOST inaccessible location, right in the middle of the roof. Out in the daylight, it was so bright and glary you couldn't really see to inspect it. But you could sure feel it. So I moved to the garage. I couldn't see what the blemish was with my old man eyes, and it was too far away for glasses to help. I finally got a couple pictures. Ended up finding another blemish, sort of like a booger in the paint a few inches from the other one. The pic with the green tape shows both blemishes. It clearly looked like some chemical dripped on the paint for the bigger blemish. My truck is always parked outside in my driveway, uncovered, nothing overhead. It's never been in a public parking garage.
I procrastinated for a few weeks because I had zero confidence that the dealer or Ford would step up.
Finally took it to the dealer I bought the truck from, showed them my pictures. Kind of got the eye roll from the brand new Service Writer. I figured I'd end up hearing, "Go Pound Sand". In which case I was gonna be mad AF, but had already settled on that If I'm stuck with it, I guess be glad I couldn't see it every day like if it was on the drivers door. Or take it to a shop and pay to have it fixed if reasonable enough. The new Service Writer had the same issue I did with trying to get close enough to see it. He asked for help from another Service Writer. In the sunlight and glare made it almost impossible to see (insert more eyerolls here). They finally got a couple shots that they said Ford required. They called the local body shop they use for all their body/paint work to provide a "professional evaluation" they said Ford required. The guy came right over. Lucky me I suppose, it just happened to be Eric, the owner of the shop I've used for body work on all of our cars for at least 15 years. And my old company did for even longer for their large fleet. Eric said right away the damage was very likely some sort of chemical leak at the plant right after paint process, or maybe from another vehicle that was above my truck on the transport rig from the factory. It was clearly not tree sap or anything I did.

After a week or so, Ford confirmed a "paint defect" and covered it under the 3/36 warranty. I don't know what it cost as it went through the dealership so I didn't see the invoice.
I had this vision in my head about them having to sand the whole roof all the way to edges, fix, paint, yadda yadda.... Since I know Eric the shop owner, he told me what the process was. He said you would never be able to see the repair. Not because of where it is, but because of the processes they have nowadays. They remove the clear coat on the whole roof, sand the damaged area down to the metal, then prime, fill and level, then paint to match, then new clear coat the whole roof. I had my doubts for sure. I don't have pictures, but sure as shit, you cannot see anything. The whole roof looks exactly all the same everywhere. No blemishes, no feathered-in BS, no ridges of any sort anywhere. At least that my old man eyes can see. My buddy took a look before and after, he said he couldn't see anything either.

It sucks @AnthemMike has had such a poor experience. I was preemptively expecting the same BS. But I was wrong. Ford stood behind their warranty and product.

Someone should create a Sticky Post that alerts and tells everyone to climb in the bed of their truck and check their roof.... Especially Space Whtite owners PRE 3/36. And make it a quarterly check.... Is that something @Administrator can do or someone else? Im just a lowly lay person but this seems pretty bad. Have all of you reported this to NHTSA? Its not a safety issue, but could fall into a recall if there are enough complaints. Problem is no one, including me, looks at the roof of their truck hardly ever....

I do.
But mostly because I'm in the bed standing so often.

However, I don't think I have ever looked with the discernment necessary to have spotted the blemish noted above.

I resemble that remark.

But there's an explanation.
I can't muscle up my big cheap (heavy) bicycle without risking scratching up the truck, or even more difficult, getting all the pedals unstuck from the spokes of other bikes.
If we were real bicyclists, we would have nice bikes and the appropriate hardware for carrying them.

I just stack whichever ones cover how many kids are with me. Head to whichever park they decide to go to.

It's only natural to get a good look at the roof. Especially after it's been washed.

Ford will not cover it, this has been an issue in aluminum panels since 2001 with Ford.

Even WITHIN the 3\36?

Nope. Aunts Expedition hood started peeling at 1 year old in 2008. Wasn’t covered (not perforation). Same happened on her 2017 Expedition, not covered (not perforation). Plenty of examples of atlas blue 13th gen trucks peeling at 1-2 years old that ford stated aren’t covered. If my 2023 started peeling tomorrow, it’s a non warrantable item. I’d be footing the bill. It needs to perforate the panel to be covered under corrosion warranty. There really is no such thing as a corrosion warranty, they all stipulate it so that its perforation. That doesn’t happen before 5 years. I tell everyone, there is no such thing as warranty on paints/finishes. No make will cover such failures without compensation for the repair. Sometimes a REALLY good dealer who will go to bat for you can make it happen. But that’s the exception, not the norm.

This has been a battle in the Expedition community for 2 decades. We all just used bug guards to hide the bubbling and popping paint. Even 1-2 year old trucks, very common.

Paint would be covered 3 36. I actually, this very second, am waiting to get my space white truck back from some paint touch ups after the PDR guys screwed up prying out the rear glass. I also had to have the entire roof repainted because some paint on the A pillars and roof got messed up when pulling the dents. I'll be happy if its fixed, but this has been such a long process. Im hoping the repair is still covered under 3/36 given its a certified shop just incase I have issues down the road.

Fwiw, one gen 13 on my street with the same peeling roof channels. One is ox white, while the ruby reds seem okay.

It really is just an issue with painting aluminum. See EVERY S197 (hallowed be thy name) hood corners. Mine even did it with 3m clear ppf applied at the dealer when purchased.

My 2011 had a scratch on roof down to bare metal I found on first wash. No idea how it got there. Hit it with touchup pen and it held up perfect for 12 years.

Echoing the above - the only time I have ever seen ford paint issues addressed is if you catch it BEFORE you take delivery
