Car dealerships make money selling USED vehicles; on new vehicles, the automakers lose money, stealerships come out even and the automaker credit companies make bank. Service is a profit center for dealers, but quality varies.

May you please share the blend date/build date for your truck? Curious to see if there is correlation to the other blown turbo PowerBoost.

I can't resist chiming in here... I could not agree more with a previous post that stated the squeekie wheel gets the grease. I'd share my story, but it's kind of long. Anyhow, every time i show up at the dealer, the person at the counter always double checks the mechanics work including dld my tires get rotated. I mark each wheel each time I go and text it to myself before each service so I get no bs. I have come learn I dont really trust anyone working on my vehicles; however, with a little extra effort on my part to verify their work goes a long way and saves me a lot of time by not having to go back to the dealership to point out all the things they missed

Once you have given the dealer, and FMC a reasonable time to make it right I would call the media. Nothing gets them moving like a call from a news outlet looking for comment on a story they are running about your issues and lack of any consideration for prompt repair.

Incorrect and ridiculous. Why do people pass off uninformed opinion as fact?

Just negotiated a 24 w/ 65,055 MSRP down to 53,123 which does include my $2.5k PCO ($55,623 w/out) which is ~15% off sticker. With PCO that's 18.4% off. Somehow a spray-in bedliner was installed and isn't on the sticker or addendum which is another $600 not accounted for
?‍♂

And they made enough money off you to make it worth their while, cover their overhead, pay the commissions, with a little left over for the owner.

While this article is a few years old, I doubt percentages have changed that much-
New Car - 58% total sales but 26% of gross profits (includes financing, add-ons, etc.)
Used car - 31% total sales but 25% of gross profits (includes financing, etc.)
Service/Parts - 49.6% of gross profits.

Can you expand upon this?

Like just about everything, it depends on what time interval you look at.

Conventional/rule-of-thumb wisdom the industry tells us: new car sales 1-3% profit margin, used car sales 5-10% profit margin, service and parts 20-50% profit margin. That 1-3% on new vehicles sales is VERY suspect based on info I've found.
The Profit Game: Unveiling Car Dealership Profit Margins - MotorLot (bingj.com)

2007-2019 period - dealerships experiencing 'profit margin compression' (less money!). But still, "The SEC accounting data show volatility within a small range during the recession and shortly after—from 2007 to 2011—followed by a rapid decline thereafter.9 The average new-vehicle margin based on SEC data declined 25.6 percent from 2007 through 2019, mirroring the 34.3-percent decline posted by the PPI for new-vehicle sales over the same period. The margin on a new-vehicle sale for the publicly traded companies in 2019 averaged 5.2 percent, with one company’s margin reported as low as 4.1 percent."
4 to 5% is NOT 1-3%.

Ford F-150 '24 Powerboost catastrophic turbo failure at 1200kms 1722351999815-4m

2019 - 2022 period - party time! "Similarly to the PPI for dealership markups, the estimated markup index grew sharply from December 2019 to December 2022, rising by 255.1 percent. And similarly to the official price measures, the estimated markup index did not begin rapidly increasing until 2021. Under the assumption of an average markup of 5.0 percent in January 2019, the PPI for dealership markups would suggest that the markup would have peaked at 14.7 percent in June 2022, and under the same assumption, the estimated markup index would suggest that the markup would have peaked at 17.7 percent in September 2022. By December 2022, these estimated markups would have fallen to 11.9 and 16.6 percent, respectively. Both of these estimates are largely corroborated by SEC financial data, which show that average new-vehicle markups increased by 146.0 percent from the first quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2022, reaching 13.1 percent before falling to 10.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022.13"

The loaner / rental
If the dealer has no vehicles

Go rent one, communicate with ford your intent, rent a ford to get maximum reimbursement
But they will reimburse
My parents maverick was broke hard
Our dealer is small with only 2 dedicated loaner vehicles
They rented a car ..and 4 weeks later ford happily paid them back everything but a small tax or fee because they rented a large vehicle, vice a standard
But it was less than 100
Then she filed a thing with our insurance
And they carried the difference
Agree be the squeaky one. But also be the adult in the room
Sneaky honey and bless your heart nets more results than vinegar and hot sauce
