Yeah.That is why a lot of members go the DIY way...unfortunately.

I've got devices across the spectrum, from cameras to radios to marine chartplotters to barbecue pit monitors. They all get regular or occasional software updates. The manufacturers make it easy for the end user do the updates FOR FREE. I'm not buying a $500 cable, a laptop, and an expensive short term software license to install the software updates that Ford trumpets about all the time and should be free to install for owners that want them, especially given the dealers won't do them.
I've built PCs for years, hacked radios, and built my own devices to automate all kinds of things. I'm not scared of this. But I'm done with it, it's not fun for me anymore. Just make getting the damn updates easy for us.
