Part of the risk to the rest of us is that some people fleeing such hellholes continue to vote in ways that helped create the nightmare they're fleeing, thus endangering the quality of life in sane areas.

The solution is simple, functionally dissolve their state govt and bar anyone currently in any management position, elected or otherwise. Use a novel interpretation of federal law and the constitution to bankrupt/incarcerate/etc... The whole good for the goose being good for the gander thing. At this point they should split from the US
and that’s one reason why I live where I live. I highly doubt anybody leaving California will come to where I’m at….. and that’s a plus for mePart of the risk to the rest of us is that some people fleeing such hellholes continue to vote in ways that helped create the nightmare they're fleeing, thus endangering the quality of life in sane areas.
Yes, Colorado is a vivid demonstration of that process. I was living there in 1990's when a mass migration from CaliforniaPart of the risk to the rest of us is that some people fleeing such hellholes continue to vote in ways that helped create the nightmare they're fleeing, thus endangering the quality of life in sane areas.
There is considerable support in California to break it up into 3 to 6 new states. This is the simplest thing to do and there is historical precedence. I would move to the new state of Jefferson. The solution is simple, functionally dissolve their state govt and bar anyone currently in any management position, elected or otherwise. CARB alone could be eliminated with a handful of different means especially with how the commerce clause is used.
Agreed. We see the encroachment of this in Idaho. California conservatives are still pretty liberal and expect lots of govt entitlements that don’t need to exist.Part of the risk to the rest of us is that some people fleeing such hellholes continue to vote in ways that helped create the nightmare they're fleeing, thus endangering the quality of life in sane areas.
They're not real bright.Living in Las Vegas and we are already seeing the effects. ?
Las Vegas is the only blue part of the state as people from that hell hole are moving here by the thousands!
The cost of living has risen dramatically in the last few years. Most of us can’t even afford a new house because of the influx.
A $500K home now runs $911K base price (no options).
The worst part is that, they say, they’re running from the failed policies BUT, they vote the same crap in here!!!
They are the exact definition of insanity! “Do the same thing over and over but expecting a different result”.
Reno isn’t far off.Living in Las Vegas and we are already seeing the effects. ?

Not so sure I'd call what my hometown has now become "successful". In spite of the too-affected 'keep Austin weird' hype, it sure isn't the town I knew.Austin was always the West Coast soul of Texas. Now it has successfully become defacto California in the heart of the state.
life is literally too short to let the funny/strange/weird [/just f-ing nuts] steal my joy today. ?
Except we aren’t giving up the ports. Notice there’s no naval national guard. They can continue to drive up costs unfortunately.Might happen after the recent red wave.
My daughter and her husband live near Bastrop in Del Valle. They miss the Austin they knew just ten years ago.Not so sure I'd call what my hometown has now become "successful". In spite of the too-affected 'keep Austin weird' hype, it sure isn't the town I knew.
T'was a great place to be a kid from 1952, and I greatly enjoyed being a part of the liberal 'Austin hippy' scene even into the late 1970's in spite of the growth that occurred to that point.
MoPac was built while I was away in the Army, 1972-1974, returning was when I realized Thomas Wolfe was right ... 'you can't go home again'.
I moved 35 miles east to rural acreage in Bastrop County in 1983 (maybe not far enough it now seems, but I'm dug-in), since my Mom died last year Austin is a rarely visited foreign country to me.

1970's Austin liberal is a whole different animal than today's Austin/California liberal., ?T'was a great place to be a kid from 1952, and I greatly enjoyed being a part of the liberal 'Austin hippy' scene even into the late 1970's in spite of the growth that occurred to that point.
