USB should remain in truck until it tells you to take it out after following the steps and it will eventually prompt you to take out stick and follow what FDRS tells you to do next which would be to click yes on computer and then it will read and see if it took the update or not.
So is this the part where I just wait for the updates to take? A few weeks in some cases?

I did leave it in there after closing out FDRS.

Should always leave the usb in the truck once it starts to read the usb stick. But it depends on what version number you are on to determine if you are on the bad version or not

Yikes….. so if you created the usb stick and it’s still in the truck and hasn’t prompted you that it was successful and such just leave it plugged in the truck and hopefully it will take. Some times it can take weeks! But maybe you get luck.

Definitely on the broken version. Will leave USB inserted in truck until something happens.

FWIW, it was a 3gb download. Does that sound reasonable?

Do everything else in FDRS that has an update. You'll be waiting days or possibly weeks for the APIM USB to finally install.

There’s no danger in installing other updates before the APIM? I’ve been reading that you want to do the APIM first, then other modules later.

I'll let others speak up on handling your stuck APIM version.
Normally you can install anything available on the screen. Some are chained like IPMA that requires a 4 hour time commitment to install.

The main thing is you will be done with FDRS for a while until USB installs then you'll have lots more updates to do.

Let the apim complete, before doing other updates. Mine took 4 weeks to install back in early 2022. Once the apim completes your SYNC version will show again on the about SYNC screen. You will also see that the automatic updates sreen is nolonger grayed out. Forget about FDRS for now and just wait for the update to install, a screen will pop when it does while your driving and it will say "update complete" after this license up with FDRS again and you'll be able to complete the other updates.

If he has IPMA and PSCM available, he should do them while he has an active license. That combo takes about 4 hours and there is no reason to cram it into the next two day license when there will be a second and possibly thrid round of IPMA/PSCM to do.

APIM updates are normally closer to 6GB. I am not sure if this one in particular is supposed to be smaller.
