My buddy traded in his 2022 5.7 Hemi for the new 3.0 Hurricane. For how hyped up that 3.0 twin turbo is it wasn’t all that. It still wasn’t able to beat my 5.0 and the V8 squarely won every single roll race. It’s sort of embarrassing it takes 22 psi of boost for the Hurricane to match my 5.0 at atmosphere. Almost comical really. The 5.0 really is a powerhouse N/A machine.

At 22 pounds the 5.0 would be making well over 1000 lb ft of torque, the the 3.0 only making 469 lb ft is rather pathetic imo.
That also means they are certainly no match for my XLT PB.

I have the 20" wheels and bed utility package. No FX4 or other fluff. How much weight would I get back with 18" wheels?
Not sure but it’s noticeable in PB payload numbers. Problem is the 20”s look so much better to me on the road.

Do you have the 7400# payload package? That would account for 50 of the #, since I have the 7350# payload package.

21-23PB have 7350, 24+ has 7400 after a wave of ford's magic payload wand.

PBs are still stronger and what hybrid issues? The vast majority of “issues” are common nowadays.
Are they though? Stock for stock I can do 5.3 to 60 and 13.6 in the 1/4 in my XLT. I only have 3.31 gears too.

The PB and 3.5 trucks put down very, very similar numbers.

Well, with youtube content, it's the 3.73 geared Tremor that gets the closest to the PB. In truth a stripped down 3.5 or 5.0 would give it a run no doubt.

You're anecdotal experience isn't duplicated with any regularity, while the PB consistently walks away from all comers until the TRX and Raptor R show up.

Hard to top 570 ft.lbs with a good portion of that available at 0rpm if it's launched decent.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
5.0. Fewer parts to deal with. I need another battery like I need a hole in the head. That mess will be expensive to replace on a powerboost. The 5.0 is an easy 250,000+ mile engine if maintained.

The 5.0 is much easier on the transmission too, so that should help longevity.

I would like to see how a RCSB 5.0 would do against the Powerboost. I know the RCSB only has one motor, but I bet it would be close.

Especially if you remove the seats, the AC, radio, and only 1/8 of a tank of E85. Might run a 4.9 0-60 ?

I don't think for a second I have a "factory freak" and I backed that run up with multiple other runs of similar times. Not a lot of owners, at least Ecoboost owners, post times. All I'm doing is brake boosting on 4hi. I imagine it would be 3-4 tenths slower just stabbing the gas.

We all know options weigh and weight kills performance. Powerboost has the power, and the weight.

Since this thread has dissolved into meaningless insults, let me add one

Get the PB if you want the sound of your engine to be faked, delivered through the loudspeakers. Get the 5.0 if you want to hear a real engine.
Hey, as several others have pointed out, all of the F150 engine options are AMAZING.

It bugs me when BS is spread.

You must not have read the first page of this thread:

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/5-0-vs-powerboost-engine.27307/post-501726

No faked sound, nothing piped in.

Just pure smooth, strong, quiet power.

Notice the road noise is LESS than the turn signal.

Just curious, why is "The 5.0 is much easier on the transmission..."?
