I spent thousands of hours of my life sitting on top of a pair of screaming Detroit 6V53's. I like quiet.
The old detroit 2 strokes are great sounding motors BUT, I wouldn't want anything of the such in a pickup. John Hennessy is another example. He makes very loud, high performance vehicles, but he dailys a tesla. Which is a bit ironic as its faster than a lot of his vehicles that come with 6 and 7 figure price tags.

Forgive me if this has already been said, but I've driven both, my old man has a '21 PB and I have a '22 5.0. Reading the posts that I did here, including OP, I think it comes down to driving style and tasks that you're asking of your truck. I've never found myself wanting for power, torque, acceleration, etc. with my '22 5.0. In both cases, the driving I've done with both is standard, non-towing, commuter type highway driving, and the way I drove, I noticed no appreciable difference other than in the 5.0 it doesn't sound like I'm driving a toy car. Sure, step on the gas and there's more there from the PB, but that's not a thing that I do in my day-to-day driving. Gas mileage between our trucks is basically the same between the two, we have similar driving habits and live in similar circumstances (country driving ~60mph, 7-10 miles on a 60mph highway is our shortest drive typically). All in all it's a pretty apples to apples comparison and I'm glad I chose the 5.0.

I'm sure when you layout all the statistics and when you do certain types of driving, the PB comes out ahead, but if you don't do that stuff with your truck, the sound the 5.0 makes wins out for me.

To me the biggest drawback on the PB is the payload it takes away , other wise it does everything else better then the 5.0 and standard 3.5 ECO. And then you add the Pro Power and its game changer.

Ok, Ill throw my .02 in. for those who call the 5.0 a 'dog' or underperforming. You are spoiled. Its not a bad thing, but you are. In 2006 the strongest engine in a 150 was 300 herspers. Thats it. Today trucks are stronger.(Your Powerboost is still a dog next to my 350, but that comparing Oranges and Tangerines, Similar but not quite the same). Ford has gone the way of the US military as far as half tons go. It has to compete with itself. The 5.3 GM or 5.7(now going extinct) Hemi are no competition for the venerable Coyote engine. Your PB benefits from a better factory tune and instant power from the electric motors. Great setup if its not your last truck. If it is your last truck, the 5.0 boasts some fantastic advantages that the PB just cannot offer. The 5.0 has 0 turbos to wear out. The 5.0 has a singular battery thats only 200 bucks to replace.(All batteries wear out, including the HVB batteries in all Hybrids and they are not cheap.) For the most part the 5.0 is a traditional engine which means when the time come will be cheaper to replace. Even with the 3.31 gears, I am not disappointed in the towing capabilities of my 150. Bikes, boats, even a dump trailer handles just fine. Not my powerstroke fine, but great for a half ton pickup. Throughout my history with 150s(only 6 or 7 of them from a base xl to a fully loaded 06) I have never had one that towed bad. They all did what they were meant to do right up to the max load. The 5.0 is no different. The PB is a fun truck to drive for sure, but its the hot one night stand you have fun with for a while. The 5.0 is the one you grow old and die with.
Presonally, I prefer the hot one you grow old and die with!

The payload argument with a PB is a non-starter to me. My 302A PB is one pound off the max payload:

PB max payload: 1735

My XLT’s door sticker: 1734

Remember these are “half ton” trucks, not .86 ton trucks so that ain’t bad, especially compared to any Ram driving down the road today

My PB's payload is over 1700, but keep the roasts coming as they are hilarious.

Get the 5.0 if you want loud and slow.

Get the Powerboost if you want fast and quiet, they can't deny it.
Dumbass posts like this crack me up :ROFLMAO:

Not a jab at the 5.0, but with a tune/ airbox & CAC, it's just insane how effortlessly my lifted PB accelerates up to speed. I've had a 700 hp diesel, a built Corvette, many sport bikes, and although I'm older now, this truck is impressive man!
Running my house and my future RV are also niceties.

The PB sure is fast getting to the dealer service department, that's for sure!

As a coyote fanatic I couldn't agree more. Stock for stock, I'm not even sure why anyone would argue in favor of it outside of maybe less fiddly bits to look at and wonder what the heck happened to engine bay design. I waited until AFTER I added a centri blower to mine before getting the exhaust for the reason you describe. If I'm going to be somewhat loud, I should be quick. I'd only add that if you intend on adding big power (big, not canned tune 3.5 power) the 3.5 is a dead-end and to a degree strung-out the moment you tune it. That's not to say tens of thousands of high mile tuned 3.5s aren't out there having a blast but at 600 rwhp the 3.5 is near peaking on all thresholds that matter whilst the 5.0 F150 DDs without stress in the 800hp range and is putting C8s/M5s/RS3s/E63AMGs to shame out there without breaking a sweat nor even having to open up the motor with a turnkey $12k aftermarket setup (can be done for cheaper of course but this is turnkey stomp and go without worry range). If something goes wrong and you pop a 3.5... yikes, whereas a coyote block can likely be found between someones couch pillows for dirt cheap.

All that said if the payload is a wash I'd avoid the coyote unless you specifically intend on dialing into the magic that is the 4x4 coyote on the 10-speed boosted.

I think tuned PB’s are posting low elevens like Tank, but a supercharged 5.0 is something quite special indeed.
It costs far more than a tune but it makes big power without opening the engine up for sure ?
