Just put 33 gallons of E85 in for my first fuel up. 559 miles on it and now I have a CEL. Ford pass message "The engine control system has reached its adaptive learning limits with the fuel control system. *Auto start/stop will be disabled if this light is on*"

So I found a cheap fix to disable auto start/stop.
How's the truck been running since this post?

My '21 doesn't have a gas cap and I don't think any of them do.
DOAH!!!! You are correct. OK change gas cap to decal. As long as it has the yellow decal saying it’s OK to run E85 then I will.

Ran it down to 3/4 tank and topped off with premium. Ran it down to 1/2 tank and filled with premium again. Light has come off. I took it pretty easy while the cel was on. Have about 1,100 miles on it now. Still haven't come close to red line yet.

It seemed to shudder a little bit after startup and just sitting idle. The place I got E85 from was about as close to 85% as you can get. People have no problem with the 30-40 mile round trip to get it.

I didn't feel comfortable enough maintaining the use of E85. If someone releases a tune capable of utilizing E85, I will go back to it.

So I found an Exxon with e85, ran through the half of tank I put in my 24. Felt a bit of a difference when stepping on it. I heard it picks up an extra 20 or so whp. Then put about a 1/4 tank of E from sheetz then drove home about 20 miles and the check engine light came on ?. Ran a full tank of 93 and turned the off the light, and it stayed off.

Most likely wouldn't work because "flex fuel" vehicles typically have an ethanol content sensor in one of the fuel lines to detect % of E to adjust to.

Yes but it seems fords system is all inferred based on the 02 sensors. See previous posts.

Dont get me wrong, i like the idea of 23 PCM in 24 truck. Suddenly it could be tuned if this were possible. Hoping someone out there has/will test this.

Won't work, 24s run encrypted canbus. None of the 23/24's parts that have encryption are interchangable. At least a dozen of the parts use it including the IPC and modules that operate the vehicle. Only parts like DDM/PDM and radar modules are interchangable.

It is my understanding that E85 fuel requires special fuel system gaskets and/or rubber parts to be compatible with the ethanol fuel. I’m not sure that Ford is still using the same rubber parts on their fuel systems in 2024 as they did when it was an option. If Ford is not using compatible soft parts in their fuel system, then putting E 85 fuel in there is not good.
