Hi all,

It's well known now that 24's lost the ability to use e85, at least from the factory. My current understanding is that no actual hardware changes took place, that the difference is due to not programming for it. I also understand that the trucks that do support e85 do not use a physical sensor to determine alcohol concentration, but rather infer it somehow based on a/f ratios I guess. So, the main question: Could an aftermarket tune give my '24 the ability to safely run e85 or are there additional things that must be done to enable this?

I don't think 24's can be tuned yet unfortunately.

Can't even PCM swap due to the encryption. The BCM, now CJB has many differences so you can't even swap out PCM/BCM as a bypass. Curious to see where this ends up. There's 3rd party computers that essentially are stand alone but still require quite a bit of voodoo to get things to behave right. Still very specialized stuff right now. This can be seen in the twin turbo 24 that has separate gauge cluster sitting in front of the gauge cluster.

No sir. I did some research on this. It can't/ shouldn't be done until tuning is released.

I'm reasonably confident that the aftermarket will eventually crack the '24 pcm, but no idea when. I'll just rock along stock for a while, it's not like the truck is painfully slow.

They cracked the code and they’re tuning the mustangs now so the F150s won’t be far off if they aren’t already tuning them now.

Palm Beach Dyno is tuning the trucks now. Lund will have their truck tunes ready soon when I talked to them a week ago.

There are already tunes.

Livernois is coming out with their E85 tune soon, but has had 87-93 for a month plus.

I got my 2024 truck tuned about 3 weeks with a custom flex tune with E85 option and even recommended by my tuner. And 3 tanks in on E85 and all is great. I had a ported GT intake installed at the same time. The E85 tune and GT intake made a HUGE HUGE difference in performance. So far I’m seeing about 2.5 mpg loss in town and about a 5 mpg loss on the highway. But with the E85 cost being 40% cheaper locally than the 93 that I was running, I’m saving money using E85 and gaining performance.
