I've been modding vehicles for more than 25 years, but the sound of a quality aftermarket exhaust connected to a V8 power plant still makes me giggle.
I haven’t gotten around to upgrading the exhaust in my RCSB to let the Coyote howl yet (this summer) but there’s no mistaking what happens when I stab the throttle.

It’s a 5.0 in a little tiny F150 and if not for Traction Control, my truck would surely be a balled up heap of tangled aluminum and steel getting picked over by vultures in a wrecking yard by now!

No there is no fake noise. You are hearing a sport engine with dual overhead cams (32 valves) revving to 7,000 rpm. It does not sound like a pushrod V8 at all, more akin to an Aston Martin engine. Double the valves, way more rpm, different firing order. Much more power than a pushrod V8 too.

I have a 2021 RCSB with a 5.0 and 3.73 axle

Coming of age in the early 60’s I amassed – one year - $600 dollars in speeding tickets when tickets were about $15 to $20 and there were no points applied against my license for speeding.

Over the years I have owned driven a number of high performance cars ranging from Corvettes to Hemi Challengers and anything else that I could buy.

A thing that I appreciated was the sounds of the exhaust at full throttle.

Now, some 58 years later I still enjoy “romping through the gears” as we used to say. However, the exhaust sounds coming from the Ford at full throttle do not ring true.

My truck has a stock exhaust so is relatively quiet but the sounds when at full throttle don’t match what I think they should be.

Does anyone know if Ford generates fake exhaust noise through the sound system on a 5.0?

Thanks
Is it really a v6

Like you I'm nearing my expiration date and miss the sounds from the old glasspacks we used to install. I can't speak for the 5.0 but I also have besides my F150 a 2021 Explorer ST and it does indeed have the fake sound coming through the speakers. Not sure but I thing BMW was the originator of this and when they got caught the lies started flying.
I wonder if my 24 f150 5.0 uses the sound system a bit? HMMM

The only other sound that emanates from my truck when my 5.0 is sending the ponies to the ground is me yelling “wooo hooo” out the window. ?

Previously 2024 F150 XLT 5.0 V8, went back to a Toyota
The piped in fake/augmented sound is used to make 6s sound better. Why would they need to do that on a V8 that already sounds good? Sure, it's not an old push rod, so it sounds different, but it still sounds like a V8.

Why anyone even think it was piped in sound? I don't get it.

NOTHING sounds worse than a pipped 6 cylinder! NOTHING!
While not a V8, I drive a Jaguar F-Type V6s and it does sound really nice. Loud with plenty of burble. There is a way to get the F150 V6 ecoboost to sound similar with exhaust tuning. It sounds nothing like a V8, but more like a race car.
