I like to let my Oldsmobile idle in the driveway as I lock eyes with my Neighbor washing his Tesla..

it’s the little things in life that make me happy

I cant recall any windmills and EVs that came to save the day whenever there's a natural disaster or black out

Here is a good video of what a 5.0 with a Borla S-Type exhaust sounds like. A Corsa Sport or Magnaflow Street Series would also sound similar.

Borla S Type on the 5.0 is not as nice as the Corsa Sport IMO. I went with the side exit Corsa and it's such a great sounding system. I would hesitate to put on the extreme version as I think that would be just too much. While the Corsa in cabin is definitely throaty, there is NO drone. I can carry on phone calls etc with zero issue.

This is my truck from the past summer.

I have a 2021 RCSB with a 5.0 and 3.73 axle

Coming of age in the early 60’s I amassed – one year - $600 dollars in speeding tickets when tickets were about $15 to $20 and there were no points applied against my license for speeding.

Over the years I have owned driven a number of high performance cars ranging from Corvettes to Hemi Challengers and anything else that I could buy.

A thing that I appreciated was the sounds of the exhaust at full throttle.

Now, some 58 years later I still enjoy “romping through the gears” as we used to say. However, the exhaust sounds coming from the Ford at full throttle do not ring true.

My truck has a stock exhaust so is relatively quiet but the sounds when at full throttle don’t match what I think they should be.

Does anyone know if Ford generates fake exhaust noise through the sound system on a 5.0?

Thanks
I know for a fact they do with the V-6 Ecoboost models but pretty sure our 5.0 models do not. Let me give you a little laugh here. Believe it or not Ford has fake engine noise in the Mach E fully electric car, now that's funny! I believe it is called propulsion sound and you have the option of turning it off through the settings on your Sync screen.

I've been modding vehicles for more than 25 years, but the sound of a quality aftermarket exhaust attached to a V8 power plant still makes me giggle.

Sometimes, you just have to floor that throttle, to get your Coyote Fix.

Have to be honest, it took me some time to get the hang of the sound and the power. But I wound it up big time over the weekend towing. Nothing like an entrance to an interstate thats going uphill to encourage you to say F....lets floor it, screw the mpg, lets have some fun.

500% agree, I like waiting for noone to be around and going from a rolling stop and just gassing it.

I'm finding it hard to believe that my 2021 XLT 302A 5.0 does not have fake engine noise. It's really loud when I get on it. I've been buying new trucks for forty years and have never had one this loud. Couple of GM's at first, then I got smart and bought Fords ever since. A couple of 5.4's, three or four 5.0's, a 4.6, a v-6, couple of 7.6 Powerstrokes, just to compare. None have been this loud.

I accept the general consensus, but is it even possible? Do I have some kind of Frankenstein truck? How can I determine, once and for all, whether or not?

You could disconnect everything going to your audio control module and see if you notice a difference.

We have a 2016 work truck that has a 5.0 and sounds the same.

I also have the 5.0 with the 3.73 gears in a regular cab and I can’t tell if there’s fake sounds or not. The stock muffler does a great job of keeping things quiet at low throttle openings. The majority of the sounds in the cabin at wide open throttle are from the intake and you can hear some exhaust sounds, especially when you are driving by a wall or underpass.

You might be tempted to think that it’s fake because it sounds pretty good. Almost like the foley sounds from the chase in Bullit, where you can hear the driver upshift 8-9 times; matching the number of hubcaps that the Charger loses! :p

This has been answered numerous times in numerous posts. There is no fake engine noise with the 5.0. Why would ford waste the money?

That is an ecoboost thing. Of course fake engine noise is needed to make a 4 or 6 sound good.

You can check in forscan, should be the 727-01-01 block. But as others have said, no, there's no chance you have a frankenstien truck. You dont have ecoboost software on your truck.
