How did they "take away" something the '24 never had? They knew it wasn't a FFV before they bought it.
The 2023 5.0 had it and the following year it didn’t. The f-150 v8 is no longer a FFV.

I doubt that Ford was pointing that out to prospective buyers.

Again, they knew it was a non-FFV vehicle *before* they bought it. Nothing was taken away from them, because they never had it to begin with.

I’m speaking from a Ford perspective in regards to our customers through their own provided feedback and the general lot of them don’t understand that.

And no I don’t think the only difference is a tune. I haven't spent all my time at Ford to then get my way into Ford Performance not understanding things. As I stated before, mechanically they didn’t change parts but they did remove some electrical items that were there for the E85 on top of some things from the PCM. I am not on the electrical team though and cannot say for certain which bits were removed but everything else physically fuel related was unchanged
Not just a tune and not just electrical.

Components of the fuel system for a FFV vehicle are not made of the same raw materials as a non-FFV vehicle (i.e., stainless steel vs rubber and gaskets made of different material). That's a major difference you're missing.

The major difference you’re missing is that we built these motors with ethanol rated materials. And now we don’t include the rating to use E85 but the materials are still used. All parts are still the same minus some electrical bits on 2024+ models specifically.
Ford removes features and options to lower cost (and everyone here complains) while simultaneously using far more expensive FFV components in the fuel system when they could use non-FFV components? That makes zero sense.

Oh, and ... your profile indicates you live in UAE, yet claim "... we build these motors ..."? Who is WE and where do YOU build F150 V8 motors in the Middle East?

I even asked my sales associate during the purchase. He said is was flex fuel. I didn't realize it until much later.

The higher the ethanol content, the greater risk of sludge buildup and related issues. E10/E15 fuel requires the same components that e85 fuel systems use. The one caveat is fuel volume which isn't really a factor for dual injection systems. The 3.5s have enough fuel surplus to generate ~160% of rated power and the 5.0 ~200% using e10 fuel. Ethanol contains less energy and requires more fuel per unit of power and isn't an issue at stock power levels to run. Alcohol dilution of the oil is an issue for vehicles that don't regularly get up to operating temp. This is true of all ICE vehicles regardless of ethanol content, but ethanol significantly increases this risk. It also burns cooler as well further exacerbating the time it takes to get up to temp.

Ethanol is hygroscopic and freely pulls moisture from the air resulting in an increased likelihood of water/fuel issues as well. From a pure $ perspective on ford's part, there's only increased risk in allowing e85 with no upside. The 14th gens as they stand right now will happily eat a 25% ethanol blend fuel making more power and 'future proofing' them as e15 is already being served up in some states (there are stock 3.5s running e20 blends all season and are happy with the results, unknown as to cold weather performance impacts as found in northern states). I'll blend up to e30 with e85 and 93e0 and my truck loves the results a 96+ octane fuel provides with no measurable impact to mileage on my closed circuit course I run to test MPG impact.

Based on the 5.0s that can run e85, there's quite a few individuals that indicate an e30 blend is about all that's needed to get the power without cutting deep into mileage, a fact I'd bet still holds true with the 24+. The downside of which requires a quick ethanol calculator at fuel up. Granted you could just run 100% of any e10 fuel in the vehicle and it'll eat it just the same.

You're correct. It has been posted on this site in multiple locations that Ford brochures listed the 24's as FFV. So, a potential buyer may not have known that it was removed until after their purchase.

The credits for FFV were removed for CAFE in 2023, this along with decreased availability of the fuel nationwide is what caused it. I can’t even find E-85 locally anymore. 93 octane will get you north of 400 HP as the motor is rated on 91. Not much spread between premium and E-85.

Nothing was changed in the parts content, it should be unlockable with a tune. The Mustang was never flex fuel from the factory but everyone E-85 tunes them and has been doing so for more than a decade. You have nothing to worry about.

The V8 has a more modern/capable fueling system than either of the EcoBoosts. The direct injection pump is larger and runs at a higher pressure and the injectors are still sized for ethanol delivery. It’s all in the tune.

I don’t build them in the Middle East. I am a Ford Performance engineer so we refers to Ford generally. I spend a lot of time at EMDO but can be found all over the Ford Dearborn campus testing and evaluating products.

And to say far more expensive is not really accurate the suppliers have been rating most of the materials for E85 for over a decade so we don’t really get to pick between, it’s just what is offered. But yes they did cut the very small specific items that detect and compensate for E85 which were inline with the fuel system.
Clearly much has changed with FFV vs non-FFV vehicles in just the past 10-15 years. So are all the fuel lines and fittings stainless steel, or have they developed rubber that is impervious to alcohol degradation?
