Hopefully some tunes will come out soon enough.

E85 is awesome, especially with our high compression ratio.
It's not really about the tune. A flex fuel capable vehicle has various parts and components made from materials that can handle the E85 over time. Many materials typically used for (non-flex fuel) gasoline vehicles cannot handle E85. Also, the injectors are different.

I'm aware. We still need a tune. I do not feel comfortable just praying that the factory fuel tables can compensate for the higher ethanol content.

I tuned my last Jeep for E85, since all of the hardware was able to handle/ run E85, it just needed a tune to do so.

I've run E85 conversions on past cars of mine as well.

if your truck is not E85, you will void your warranty.

You don't void an entire warranty (other than racing, for example, which is explicitly called out in the T&C).

What will happen is any failure of a component that is suspected to be a direct result of running the wrong fuel won't be covered. It's not like they will deny a claim for an HVAC failure on it.

I've got a 24 STX 5.0 4X4. My buid sheet and gas cap say no for e85. I have run it several times. With a full tank i was getting P0174 and P0171 lean codes. It seemed to run ok. Once I got it to half tank I topped it off with 87 and reset the codes. No more codes after that and it ran just fine. Tried it again with 3/4 tank E85 and got the same codes. Seems like 50/50 it adjust just fine.

However they did remove the suggestion that it can use it because it’s a terrible fuel for the general owner especially in a truck. There were early onset issues caused by improper maintenance and operation while using E85 and it was determined to cease approval for its use to avoid customer complaints and issues
My 21 5.0 will disagree with that LOL
One local station has E85, and mine LOVES it. They are replacing tanks, so 91 is max I can get now, and I can feel the performance loss.
Don't know why the 24's removed it. Flex fuel has been around a bit.

I've used E85 in my 2014 for years. I never had any issues with it either.

I feel for ‘24 5.0 owners. Taking E85 away without any explanation is bad form.

If you think the only difference between a flex-fuel vehicle and a non-flex-fuel vehicle is a tune and a change to the owner's manual, you know nothing about modern vehicles. Among other things, it has to do with the materials used for components used for anything and everything that fuel passes through.

Of COURSE E85 doesn't provide the same MPGs. That's been common knowledge for decades.

First, it doesn't happen overnight. It takes time for rubber to degrade.

Second, have you been using E85 EXCLUSIVELY for ~11+ years? I doubt it.

Edit: My 2014 F150 was a FFV (flex fuel vehicle).

How did they "take away" something the '24 never had? They knew it wasn't a FFV before they bought it.
