I really can't (not judge). Like, what's the point? I can't imagine it is just because of "laziness".

I keep my foot on the brake, put it in Park, engage the ebrake, remove my foot from the brake pedal and push the stop button.

My driveway is uphill and I don't like it rocking back on the transmission. Ok, I'm getting old and I just like doing it that way lol

Exactly what you said. And anywhere other than my uphill driveway, if the truck is parked in anything that will put strain on the transmission, the parking brake is engaged. Really not sure why it is so hard to engage in P and shut it down. It is a muscle memory of over 40 years of driving.

Honestly by the time it takes for the shifter to ratchet itself to the park position, you could have it there yourself. Besides I always set the e-brake if the truck is on any sort of incline. It keeps pressure off of the park pawl in the trans, and it exercises the e-brake assembly.

This truck with all its driver safety already has me getting complacent. (Auto brake hold, front facing cameras and parking assist, etc). Not adding another bad habit. The second I get into a base model rental car I’m probably going to hit something lol

I usually don't do it on purpose but it is nice to have because I also use the brake hold function and if I'm somewhere "off-road" like the edge of a field and am stopped talking to someone I'll forget I'm in drive and find myself getting out for whatever reason then it puts itself in park.

On the e-brake mentioned, I'm still trying to find what the parameters are that make it set itself automatically when I park in the garage. Sometimes it does and other times it won't no matter what I try.

I do nothing to trigger operation of that darned console shift-lever motor. IMO that's trouble waiting to happen that I don't want to deal with (and I'm in it for the long-haul).

I stay in the habit of shifting it to park myself. Is it a neat feature? I suppose. I’d rather just engage the parking brake and the n put it into park.

Technology crutches can lead to development of poor operator habits that can kill or maim when driving something with less technology. Rain sensing wipers are one thing but, imagine jumping out of the vehicle after forgetting you are in a rental or, should the feature fail. My thoughts, for what it's worth.

Similar. I have a sequence when I park at home. Back in, hit the garage opener, hold the brake, then engage the parking brake.
