Got the truck back, here are the parts they replaced. Got a new battery too. This last battery lasted 24 months. This is now the 3rd battery. They checked the rear seat battery, but it tested good so no replacement on that one.

They finished up my truck today and did replace both axle shafts. Pretty quick turnaround (4 days) which included the weekend. They used the same parts that were used for your repair. Not sure why your dealership took as long as they did. Hope my service advisor is correct and this is the permanent repair, but I got a feeling it is just an interim fix. We'll see if the recall advisory gets cleared.

Glad you got your truck back quickly. I really don't know why my truck took 3.5 weeks to get parts. Who knows maybe the FORD supplier released more parts. I guess it is just the luck of the draw on this recall. I think this is just a fix for the broken bolt and not the permanent fix.

Does anyone know what Ford changed in Jan 2023 and later production trucks to 'solve' this issue? Officially there is no permanent fix, so why are the later trucks not covered or impacted?

Interested to know as well. Maybe the bolt is just a "consumable" part at this point.

Getting both axels replaced tomorrow morning. This will be my 3rd time. Dealership said they are different part numbers from my last repairs.

I had a flat rear tire on my 22 PB today and as I removed the right rear wheel the axle bolt and washer fell out on the ground. I have an 8000 mile road trip west in two months and I'm going to demand they replace both sides. The cash and keep return date just passed a few days ago from me being without my truck for 3 months due to an in-tank fuel pump failure with no parts available. But I did get a 5 year/ 75000 mile extended warranty as part of the program.

I'd really like to understand if the current fix is the permanent solution, as I seem to remember reading that they were developing new parts to fix the issue.

Somewhere I read that Ford ended up going back to their old HD axle for newer trucks.

As far as a fix, I haven't read anywhere that they have figured anything out. The broken bolt is just an effect, The damage is already done by then.

The dealer near me had both my axels replaced in 40 mins, which was awesome. When I picked up the keys, the service manager could not provide me a copy of the Service Order until they had filed it with Ford.

So I still don't have the part numbers (or any record) that the work was done. I know they did something because the axels are no longer making the squeaking noise during acceleration.

I'm chasing the service centre for a copy, but they are waiting on being compensated by Ford.

I'll post part numbers when I get a copy of the service order.

FWIW, just now reviewing the complete related documents list posted on the NHTSA website, there is no update after the January 16 supplement #1 "interim service" procedure.

IOW, still no "permanent remedy" as of this date.

My advisor initially told me they would only fix the broken side, but Ford had them replace both sides. From all the posts on here, I’m thinking that is what Ford is doing for all of them.

My advisor told me the fix was the permanent one, but Ford still lists my recall as incomplete and the remedy is still not available.

My take: both sides will be replaced for you, but it’ll not be the permanent solution. When the parts came in they make the (temporary) fix in one day.

True dat! ?

They did take care of me by towing my truck, giving me a loaner, and fixing it the same day the parts came in, but I’ve come to doubt them as a source of reliable info, for good reason.

Welcome to the club and Good luck. I hope your dealership can get both axles quickly. Just had my truck done and took 3 weeks to get parts. Others have taken a few days. Makes no sense Ford's parts supply for this recall. Special instructions on how to obtain parts for this "temp" fix. My truck still shows recall waiting on perm. solution to be available.

Got the service order back. Turns out they just used the same axels from last time - so not updated parts. I guess I can expect the bolts to shear within the next few months.
