PB owner here. FWIW I used a cheap 8 amp charger when I did all my updates a few months ago. I think you’ll be fine with 10 A.
On my PB, an old Battery Tender 5 amp wasn’t enough but my Noco Genius 10 has been fine.

The whole process is pretty idiot proof. My battery died mid update and didn’t brick anything

Thought I'd do just a couple updates tonight since I only work half day Thursday and have Friday off this week... Almost 6hrs later pcm, abs, ccm, ipma, pscm, apim, gwm done. Another apim popped up which should put me at sync 23291. Faster Ford servers would have probably cut that time to about 2hrs. It's painfully slow.

Welcome to the comfortable chair, cooler full of favorite beverage and a good book club.

Last time I did a FDRS session, it was a marathon, 7.5 hrs for an IPC & IPMA update.

A question about the file structure for a USB APIM update.......

It's been awhile since I did one with FDRS, so I can't remember the file structure on the USB stick itself.

Are the files themselves in the root directory of the USB stick? Or are they nested in a subfolder? If in a subfolder, can someone share the name of the subfolder?

Same question for the manifest file. (I believe it has the file extension "der")

Happy to see another owner get updates done with FDRS. I keep the Mongoose around just to scare the truck into keeping OTA working. :)

Are the files not also loaded onto the PC hard drive? Where about are they hiding?

I figured you (or someone) was going to ask that.
Let's just say that FDRS is failing at this update because of an issue on Ford's end. So the files can't be harvested traditionally. And thus aren't copied to the FDRS path on the laptop.

But I have the necessary files and manifest in order to create the USB stick portion of the update. I simply can't remember the structure that I should setup on the stick. Because I'm old. And absent minded. A temporary case of dufus. :)

Seems like a question for the wizard Jesse. I never really bothered to look at what was on the USB stick on my update marathons. Load it into truck, format, load up the next update.

I'm trying not to bother him tonight. :)

But yeah, it's a no brainer issue for him.

If my memory is not any better than yours. I believe that all the files are under a sub directory. I just looked at the USB I use for FDRS, but I must have formatted it, ready for the next update. Sorry

Well thanks for making the effort.
But yeah, it's not likely the FDRS junkies around here only used their stick for an APIM update and then never used it for anything else again.

Although I am certain their have been posts with screenshots of the USB files. I just gotta wade through the 13,000 post forest looking for a single tree. Lol

The files are in sub directory on the USB stick and the manifest file, usually named with the VIN number is at the root.
