Adaptive Head Lights - Coming to the US???

Hmm I also noticed that when in “auto” and I park, leave the truck running, and exit the truck, the DRLs turn off. When I get back in and put it in “reverse” or “drive” the DRLs turn back on. This does not happen on the other light settings, only in “auto”

You might want to ask @ROBB1 to look over your changes. You might have accidentally switched something you shouldn’t have.

Okay so I went back outside to test everything at night before hooking up forscan and double checking my work. I had the “green A” light symbol on the cluster and I was able to toggle the fog lights on and off in the “auto” setting. So I assumed everything was good to go.

For good measure, I hooked up the forscan to double check my values. I believe everything was done correctly except for the IPMA. The 9 didn’t save earlier and I corrected that. Does everything else look good?

Your setting to enable glare free are correct so you should be good to go there.

What you are describing with the DRLs is normal in auto when it is light out. When it’s dark enough for the headlamps to activate, the DRLs come on dimmed at 10% brightness unless you change that in forscan.

The fog lights can also be activated in auto, but it has to be dark enough to active the headlamps.

Gotcha, thanks for confirmation! I do have the DRLs set to 75% via forscan previously so no issues there.

Alright you have something that’s not behaving. The adaptive beams in a turn are pretty obvious and the start up routine to date is consistent with everyone that has the projector headlamps.

Lets try a couple of things to see if we can figure this out.

Can you send me all of your current values for:
7D0-09-01
7D0-09-03

Also check for any current DTCs when you capture the values.

Separate of the values try the following:

Go to your lighting settings:

1. toggle glare free off, then back on.

2. While in that menu see if you have a adaptive lighting toggle like the image below. Most likely you do not, but if you do cycle off then back on.

3. Use the high beam control stalk to manually cycle through the hi beam settings by pushing forward to manual hi beam then back: Start > Green headlamp indicator with “A”, > manual on High beam, > high beam off (no green indicator), > Green headlamp with “A”.

It sounds silly, but after making some changes cycling the feature off then back on will get it working correctly going forward. This should be a one time exercise.

Next push, blue off and brights off. Third push and “A” back showing and still dim. Start driving and 37 mph brights come on. Slow to 17 mph brights go off. So I guess that part is working.
I drove on a road that had no traffic and “wig/waged” the steering wheel. I did notice the headlights did move, but, nowhere as much as any of the videos or graphical videos I have seen.
It is barely noticeable.
I did toggle the glare free off and back on at the display. I do not have a line for adaptive headlights. Just the first one “auto high beams” was replaced with “Glare Free.”

I think everything is working based on your descriptions.

The steering function only moves the beams a few degrees left or right. I find it most noticeable making a hard, low speed, 90 degree turn. Like a dark neighborhood or parking lot. I notice the move back to straight ahead more then the defection into the turn.

The tests you did for the glare free seem to checkout that it’s working. The best way to see the full action is on a really dark road with a distant car approaching or in front. It’s working in other situations, but harder to pickup on.

Getting flashed is generally less do to the light function and more to do with the hight deference of the truck and also because the glare free doesn’t have the hard off and on. Some “good samaritans” mis take that for you failing to turn off your high beams. I will also add that (first hand experience) the DRLs at 75% can get you flashed as well. They are ridiculously bright at the right approach angles or when it’s really dark.

I think you have a good point there about the DRL's. I will set them back to original and see what happens. The entire idea of this change is not a real big deal with me since I don't drive at night anywhere as much as I have in the past. The idea of how they operate is interesting.

I did this a few days ago, love it. My only gripe with it is there is no delay in when it turns off when it senses enough light (like a light pole). as I am drving down a street I have a disco of fade in fade out going on as i pass the lights haha. Is this expected behavior?

Sounds pretty normal under the conditions

I've seen very little out of these light in city driving. However this past weekend I made a trip that took me to a more rural setting and it is pretty amazing to watch the lights work.

I never had anyone flash their lights at me and I could see the fade "off" in the direction of the on coming car.
I'll say though overall they seemed to dim in front of me a bit more than I expected with oncoming traffic (as well as to the side for the oncoming car), but I could still see them activate and work nearly as they've been described.

Glarefree is always throwing DTC's and I finally just removed the feature. These are what FDRS had listed for the truck before I changed all the values back to the stock as built.

No, It has still done the misaligned headlights thing once even after doing the recalibration. This has been ongoing before making the changes to enable Glarefree and I decided to revert all the changes in case a trip to the dealer becomes necessary. Whenever I checked Forscan after enabling Glarefree, there are always DTC codes present so something must be wrong with either the system or a setting in Forscan.
