Install or reinstall the driver for the J2534 device you intend to use. My Mongoose is showing up in the manager normally.
That explains it. I had a VCMM earlier that just would not connect to a 22 PowerBoost. I thought I could try to trick FRDS to circumvent the connection problem by configuring the VCMM as a generic J2534 pass through scan tool.

I didn’t see it as an option which is why I asked that question.

I switched over to a VCM 2 which worked fine. Apparently our VCMM had a recent firmware update and has been acting wonky on a few things since.

So, I assume because I was using an actual VCM II & VCMM the option for an auxiliary J2534 passthrough device doesn’t exist until a third party driver is present.

This is only my first week working in an actual auto shop / Ford dealership so some of my questions will seem odd since I can’t go into too much detail. Going hands on with PTS, IDS and FRDS is freakin awesome! but I have to be extremely careful about what I post.

Ironically (considering this topic came up here a few days ago), I’m dealing with a TCU ethernet disconnect issue that came in this afternoon. I’m looking forward to discussing the results once it’s repaired (if I’m allowed).

I still have a day job in another industry, but that’s a later problem LOL.

* Also as a disclaimer so I don’t freak anyone out, I’m obviously working under the full guidance of a licensed senior master technician. But it sort of feels like we’re teaching each other on some of this tech.

Don't get in any trouble on our behalf, but it's so strange that any of this would be taboo in this modern extreme-information age.

I mean there's nothing top secret about how to change your oil in this truck. If there weren't the occasional quirk in some of these FDRS updates you wouldn't be exaggerating by describing it as less effort than an oil change.

The whole legacy culture in the current automotive service industry is silly. Nothing supports that accusation more than the insecurity complex many in the industry have towards informed customers.
You would think that they would embrace such a thing.

I have great respect for the real professionals. I don't pretend to be anywhere near on their level. But the ones that are all smoke&mirrors? I prefer them not to touch my truck.

Well I kinda get where he's coming from. Even though he's a FORSCAN Jedi he now has a proper programming job using industry tools and working within the system. He doesn't want to cross the non-disclosure line and get in trouble. I get it.

I have a lot of respect for folks that dig in and figure things out. And these forums are for sharing that info or none of us would be here. I would never have bought all the gear and ponied up for an annual FDRS license if it wasn't for members of these forums shining a light on what was possible, and showing the rest of us that enabling BlueCruise wasn't really rocket surgery (maybe brain science, but not rocket surgery!). And now I know stuff! And I don't get BS'd at the service desk.

My battery seemed to be having problems when updating everything using FDRS and needed to be fully charged before I was able to start any of the updates. Is it possible that the OTA updates would also fail to download and install with low battery voltage?

Thank you so much for the work everyone is doing. I wouldn't even know this is possible unless it was for all of you.

I am also waiting on BlueCruise with no updates since February. Can anyone check my VIN and tell me how it's looking?

thanks in advance!

Also, does anyone have an official copy of FSA 21G01? I can't find it anywhere... cheers

How was the charger hooked up to your battery?

From the troubleshooting section of the updated 22P08...as a reference:

Steps to Resolve:
The procedure that we have provided to dealers and confirmed to resolve these errors is:
1. Launch FDRS and navigate to toolbox tab > datalogger > BCM and select the “BATT_SOC” PID.
2. Ensure that the BATT_SOC PID reads over 80%.
3. If the PID is less than 80%, fully recharge the vehicles 12-volt battery using the appropriate Rotunda battery tester and charger.
4. Remove the charger from the vehicle and using FDRS, navigate to toolbox tab > BCM > Reset Battery
Monitor Sensor Learned Values application. Perform the BMS reset.
5. Connect the Rotunda tool and set it to maintain 12.6 to 13.6 volts. Monitor the voltage real time using the indicator at the bottom right corner of FDRS to ensure that it is within this range.
6. Repeat the Software Update application that failed.

I believe that SOC for OTAs also needs to be at 80% SOC or above and for that reason many OTAs don't "kick-off" until the vehicle is running and has recharged the 12v battery to at least that level.

If you don't drive your vehicle for a few days and the SOC drops below 80%...well then you're not likely to get an OTA. When programming with FDRS I set the charger up first, get a cup of coffee, and then once it's back up to over 80% SOC I start updating.

I have a question for those that have Power Running boards. I added them to my truck. They work great. My DSM is at the AG revision. I have hesitated to go higher due to issues others have experienced after the update. If the update fixes my issue though Ill go ahead and do it.

When I lock my truck from the handle the boards stow then immediately redeploy. Is that anything others have experienced? If so when updating to AL did that fix it?

@Jesse-Infotainment It only does it when locked from the handle? Have you tried shutting the door and locking with key before they stow? I dont have PRB but curious.

I almost always lock from handle. When I lock from the Fob it stows. and I believe stay stowed. Ill have to double check today. They work awesome. I find it odd they deploy right after I lock.
