There's a reason I put the checkmark in Keys and "Lights/LED" on the Ford extended warranty.
And it's potential expenses like this that flipped the table on considering the cost of an extended warranty.

And by the way, even the lowly little Nissan sedans with LED headlights, are crazy priced at like $1500 each.

It's not just a Ford thing.

Snake,
Not all of us are as informed as you! Thanks for making me sweat not knowing if I checked that box too…..which I doubt I did. My dumbass would have thought they would be around HomeDepot prices. Great start to my almost weekend. ???

The good news is, depending on where you purchased your ESP warranty, you can go back and add/extend it with some vendors. This forum has a member vendor that offers excellent ESP support from everything I have seen posted regarding.

I apologize for doing anything to make you sweat. ?

Wow, all that over a tail light.

Anyways you can definitely find a MUCH better price than $5600. The cost to Ford for a halogen vs LED tail lamp is not as big as the gap the retail customer pays. Not even close.

That’s just the housing and LED. Only 1 at that. No internal electronics are included as mentioned in the video.

As with I, my friend. I checked "lighting" as fast as I could on the ESP. Man, ten years ago I would have never considered an extended warranty. Now, I will never be without FordProtect. Ever.

Nope.. that is not it.
I can't remember what station I saw it on, but they were talking about one of the big 3 and the union wages, and it showed a lady, on an assembly line using an automatic torque wrench, install 2 bolts, and then she stepped back and waited for the next vehicle. When an unskilled laborer, such as her, makes $30-60 an hour for putting in 2 bolts, using an automatic torque wrench that is suspended from above, then yes, THAT is part of the problem with unions---over paid workers with a job that takes little or no skill/training.

I was a weldor back in the late 80's, and worked a union job. Fruehauf Corp. LBT Division in Omaha NE. Allied Industrial Workers Union local 699. Unions were responsible for a lot of good things waaay back when......now, they're just a giant money vacuum, and we all pay for it. Just my opinion.... ?‍♂

Didn't watch the video. I thought this happened to a member. I posted without reading carefully again lol.

Wait a minute! You're the OP. Did you just find that online and post it as news? I'm confused now.

So rape the ones who buy luxury? Sound logic right there.

the guy in the video is exaggerating a bit.
probably found the most expensive one online and then threw the 5k price and doesn’t mention 2 tail lights. But a very quick search I found $1700 for one with all the tech. That’s blis, on board scales, leds, etc. considering you are buying it with a bunch of modules and a radar, it’s not that unrealistic of a price. Don’t want the tech? Don’t pay that price.
