While expensive, the smaller purple brand seat cushion fits perfectly on top of the console. Washable cover, grippers on bottom like footy pajamas so it stays in place and feels great on the elbow.

I really only wanted the 400 Watt AC outlets, so I had to order the mobile office package, which comes with the console work surface. I have an on the column shifter which makes more sense with the console work surface. I am picking up the truck next week, so can't speak to how often I would use it, but plan to put a laptop there.

I bought my truck with the column shifter and work surface. I use it often. My wife uses it in conjunction with the trucks wifi to work while we're traveling to minimize vacation time usage. When she's not using it we put the dogs bed on it so she can be up front with us. Wouldn't have my truck any other way. IMO it's not worth it if you have a console shifter as it severely limits the time you can to actually use it.
If only the 23's had body painted bumpers and the option for a column shifter, it would have been my go-to. Helps when photographing at the airport a lot, camera, binoculars, scanner, iPad

I've used mine 3 times, first eating fast food with my wife when I first got the truck and she laughed at it. Other two times were for holding the laptop while doing updates with FDRS.

Would I pay more for the work surface if it wasn't included in a package I wanted? Nope, not a chance. With my luck, I would fold the shifter to put the work surface down and the shifter would "glitch" and not come back up. Lol

Edit: She laughed at it because with the work surface down, you cannot use the cup holders in the console.

I have the work surface and don't use it due the console shifter and I'm too tall and have to lean over too far to use it.

I just got my truck with it, so I don't know how often I use it. My wife also laughed at but then started going through the things she could use it for, but keeps forgetting we can't use it with the truck moving.

Yeah, my wife asks why it can't slide over like an airplane tray so she can use it as a passenger while I drive for her laptop or other working needs.

Honestly I just wish it would open and stay open instead of fighting me while I try and get something out at this point. I’m jealous of the column shift guy! Who knew they had a retro model F-150? ??‍♂
@Popplemer do you have a button on the floor board for brights too? Your truck is badass!

I tune race cars. Holley EFI. If I'm at the track and need a little quiet to work on someone's ECU, I head for my Truck. 23 platnium. . Or if I'm traveling and get a call from a customer that needs me to do a remote and hook on to their race car for diagnosis, I pull over in a roadside rest and fire up my lab top using the fold down table. Pretty neat the 110-volt charging port is directly in front

I have it and I work from the truck several hours a week (usually while kid is at practice). I've never used the work surface though. Here's why: If you're using the keyboard intensively, such as when writing pages of documentation, or developing software, the laptop needs to be in front of you, not off to the side. I leave the truck on (powerboost, so yeah it's nice), move the seat to the furthest back position, move the steering wheel forward, and a 16-17" laptop fits well on my lap (bearers of large bellies may have trouble here). It's a great mobile office.

65\66 Mustangs had those for hi beam headlights. I asked my local truck shop if they could wire a foot button for my light bar (previous 2015 truck) and they said no, can't be done.
So I pulled one of these out of my inventory and told them use this or don't put the light bar in.
Hate cutting dash and putting in buttons or toggles on a brand new truck
Worked like a charm.

I bought mine because I figured if I was going to have to deal with the folding shifter, I might as well get the work surface. I use it way more than I expected. I use it primarily for eating while on trips, completing paperwork, and it's a convenient place to put my laptop when I'm using Forscan to mess with the truck.

I do wish it had a plain plastic finish though. The finish they've put on it seems like it'll strip off given time.

I would choose to not have it if it wasn't standard. Damn thing rattled pretty bad on my Platinum. I used it maybe 5-7 times in over two years. One of the reasons I wanted to trade out my 22 was the work surface rattle. Just another relatively heavy, hinged feature that over time doesn't seat properly anymore and creates a vibration, which leads to a rattle
