I have an extended length Quickjack 7000TLX with a max spread of 66".

I'm hoping it can be used on the frame rails with the truck adapters is the spread is sufficient so that it won't tip forwards or backwards.

pumpkin for the rear
I thought lifting the rear by the pumpkin could effect the axel tubes? Even my local Discount Tire shops stopped lifting the rear by the pumpkin.

Any truth to it?

I’m not sure what brand I have, probably harbor freight, 6 ton. These newer frames are wide and won’t straddle the saddle very well. At least not enough for my liking. I use the saddle style under the axles and when I need to support the frame I use this style…

i think its more because we are finding axle tubes not properly welded to the center section and that could cause the tubes to be pushed out of square and thus ruin a set of bearings
and tubes may not be strong enough to not bend a little.. as in the recall on f350 axle tubes that tore at spring perch

Given the amount of torque it has to deal with, it should be a non-issue. 1st gear can impart 2500lbs of force into the pumpkin that's trying to rotate it at 12" out from center. Forces where the axle tubes insert can be even more than that. There's 3.5x as much trying to twist the axle itself. The amount of force imparted by the transmission on it is significantly more than lifting it. The one issue that can come up from using the pumpkin is if you damage a cheap / thin cover. Typically there's additional material on the bottom to protect such from occurring. Don't jack it up by a dinky cover.

I use ones that have a full metal base plate which makes them much more stable and no worries about using them on hot asphalt and sinking down. Cost difference is trivial as this is a once in a lifetime purchase. Torin makes this style of stand.

Gotta be mindful of where you place stands along the frame, or use some wood. Put a little dimple/indent in the bottom of the rail with one of my stands.

Funny story.... I owned a 2008 F-250 SD DSL CC. I decided I'm going to put a lift kit on in my driveway. Start by jacking up the front end and get it on jack stands. The engine in this truck is heavy, heavy. I have to place the jack stand on the frame behind the trailing arm attachment point. Seems like a normal thing to do, but when you looked at it, it sure looked like the front was going to win the teeter totter :)

While not ideal, adding these will give you a bit more surface area on the frame.

That's what I used to rotate my tires. These guys up front, and my regular 3 ton in the back

With my last 2500 diesel pickup I needed to grease 8 zerk fittings for the front suspension every 3,000 miles. To make this process easier I bought a pair of Scepter ramps with a 12,000 lb load capacity. Having the front wheels 9.8 inches higher off the ground made access to the grease fittings a great dealer easier for me.
