I recently got a 21 F150 Lariat. I’m finding more and more stuff you can’t do going over 5mhp. Does anyone know of a way to disable some of it, or a programmer I can get. I’d love to be able to use my back up and bed camera while driving, or connect Bluetooth or Apple car play. I know it’s “safety reasons” but some stuff would be very nice and sometimes safer if I could check the bed. Any advice would be appreciated!

If you use Forscan with the OBDLink cable, you can get rid of the black box that blocks the video feed. I use my bed and back camera at speed fairly frequently.

Uh-oh...a 2021 you will want to start with going to your Settings menu and check to see what version of Sync4 you are running...There was a handful of 2021 trucks that had bad APIM modules, and would not receive OTA (over the air) updates. So you could have one that is stuck.

OR possibly the original owner turned off the automatic updates, and all you'll need to do is turn it back on...

Do you still have any warranty left on that truck?

No, I don’t have any warranty. Automatic updates are on and it says it’s up to date but I haven’t check what version it’s running. I assumed one of the updates blocked the camera and only the older versions could still use it.

That’s exactly what I was hopping to hear, I’ve seen the forscan units but can’t really find what you can all do with them.

Well, the units that get stuck still always say they are 'up to date' so don't trust that notification.

If you are truly up to date, you should be able to view the Bed camera in the 'small' cards on your Sync 4, it will just be one of the cards in that stack.

I've got a '22 and did the FORSCAN update. I can use any camera setting while in motion for as long as I want it on...and without the black box warning. Since I tow, it is a nice feature to have enabled.

I can’t tell you which update enabled camera at speed on my 21 KR but it does work. The update would have been before Sept 2023 since that was the last OTA my truck has received . ☹

I’ve never seen the option to have it on the side, soon as I get off work I’m wanna look into it and see if I’m missing an update and if I can update manually with a computer and USB. Hopefully that works. Appreciate it!

Update, there is no way to update other then OTA or maybe buy some kind of scanner/programer, even so it appears my system is up to date but I still can’t use my camera while. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what else might be causing this?

For connecting to AA/carplay while moving, I have to go into Phone list and then connect. If I try to go through the AA or carplay app button its greyed out while moving.

I also have a 22. Somewhere I have a obd cable that was bought for using forscan, and I think it has a switch for a different can setting, something like that.

I've never tried to use it, because i'm a bit too nervous. How easy is it? I know I read some instructions about backing everything up in the car, etc etc..

Need some more help, I got a forscan was able so change some stuff. No more seatbelt chime. The safety message no longer come up when I hit the camera button while driving but the camera also doesn’t come up, it’s like the buttons disabled while driving. If I turn on the bed camera before driving it stays on but another camera and it turns off, the bed camera option also now comes up in the center screen but it’s not displayed, any ideas why it’s doing this or what I messed.

Do you know if you have any pending IPMA updates? Given your Sync version, bed camera and cameras at sites should both work fine, but maybe the IPMA update got skipped somehow. Also, do you have a bed camera due card on Sync? That's what I always use when I need to monitor something in the bed while driving.

the dealer updated all of the out of date modules today on my 2021, I called Ford OTA SW group and they verified that all of my software is up to date but my bed view camera does not work at speed. I don’t know what other functions I’m missing but I did get the double push button update for the tailgate. Which is annoying. Sept of 22 I lost the door opening notifications that came with ford pass when I bought my truck.
