When you all are charging, are you charging from the outside of the BMS or from the negative battery terminal? There is a video out there somewhere describing how the BMS works.

This is not just isolated to the new F150s, other Ford products have a similar issue. Our 2020 Explorer has been showing the same signs with the BMS reset correcting a lot of it.

I always charge "outside" the BMS shunt.
You don't have to, of course, but the BMS logic will be unaware of the current entering the battery and probably throws its charging algorithm off for some period of time.

Doubt it does any real harm though.

I was successfully able to get the dealership to replace the battery under warranty, Took it in yesterday for the message on the center screen and in the app, tech charged the battery saying it was low but still a good battery, after driving home and parking received the message again so I took it straight back and they replaced the battery. 22 platinum powerboost with 16,xxx. (one of the weird indicators for me was that the truck was constantly using the backup audio system as opposed to the amp)

Well latest update after battery change out to H8. Auto Stop/Start still doesn't work, but haven't seen any deep sleep mode. I did drive a 600 mile trip out of town, and then barely used the truck for about 2.5 weeks, and then another 600 miles back home.

As far as I. can tell I'm running into the same problem with a 2023 Platinum PB. Only 3 months and 1400 miles on the vehicle. I'll get the Deep Sleep message, then attach my new Noco Genius10 (thanks for pointing that one out) and the charger will report less than 25% charge. I'll charge overnight and the charger will say that the battery is fully charged. I'll do the BSM reset, then Forscan stops reporting deep sleep. By that evening, without going anywhere or touching the truck, deep sleep is back.

Am I missing anything? Any other 2023s having bad batteries? I have an appt for this Thursday to bring it in to the dealership but I'm afraid they' won't fix anything.

Brand new ‘23 PB and it glitched and wouldn’t start and we assume it was a low battery scenario. I have pretty short commutes and I’m super resistant to dealing with chargers and all that.

Wow, that sounds even worse. So far my truck has still started OK and hasn't been forced to stop somewhere. Is your truck getting fixed?

If I was getting repeatedly deep sleep prompts after successful charging the battery, I would invest the $30 to monitor/track/log the 12V battery while the truck is parked.

If the static SOC is dropping from a healthy state of say 12.7V, down to a concerning low SOC like 12.2V in a very short span of time (Overnight), I'd want to see that graph.

Then I'd disconnect the battery from the truck, charge it, then log it again. If it can't hold on even disconnected, the battery is seriously faulty.
If it does hold on to its charge disconnected, then I'd have the challenge of finding just what the parasitic draw is.

Sounds good. If the dealer doesn't replace the battery when I take it in I'll order the monitor you recommended in another thread and do more troubleshooting. I sure hope it's the battery, that would be easiest to fix. There aren't any aftermarket addons like a dashcam that could be disconnected.

Good morning! If you'd like, I can look into this concern on my end. Please send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info at your earliest convenience!

With all the electronics in these new trucks there is a lot more drain on the battery. Maybe Ford should go with a small start battery and a deep cell marine battery for everything else. My boats have ran this type of system for years.
My 2021 Ram 1500 Limited 5.7l e-torque had all the crazy electronics in it and never had a battery issue. Neither did my 2019 3500 Cummins (but it had dual batteries under the hood). Ford has a design issue. My 2023 Platinum PB will go into sleep mode in less than 24 hours of sitting - and it is completely stock.

Do you know what the static voltage of your underhood 12V battery is?

My 21 is doing this same crap. Interior lights won’t come on. Approach lighting not working. Truck only uses backup audio from the cluster most of the time now.

milk check the battery tonight, and at the next oil change have the dealer look into it.

and connect with FMC too. They monitor the posts and actually did help me out!

So... Here's more grist for the mill... I have now installed a voltmeter and had it in long enough to have observed the system voltage across operating conditions. Looking at things from the battery into the truck instead of reading the computer stuff, I have wondered if the battery is being overcharged. Specifically on starting in cold weather it goes right to about 15.2VDC. What causes me to wonder is it stays around 15VDC far longer than any flooded cell battery system I've ever owned. It takes hours to settle out around 12.8VDC. I know some will say "Oh but this is an AGM type." The issue here is that the electro-chemistry is identical. My question is along the lines of "If Ford got some defective batteries could this be a related factor?" Flooded cell batteries are known for having greater capacity which would take longer to charge up while AGM Batteries have lower internal resistance which should relate to a quicker charge and thus a quicker drop off of voltage... In a flooded cell battery overcharging leads to water loss while an AGM has a recombination feature so water loss will be far less. Thoughts?
