To buy a slightly used one that wasn’t white I had to drive five hours to pick it up. That said, they are out there. A lot of them are white in my area

I had to wait almost 15 months post-COVID for a 2022 F150 XLT 3.5EB Supercrew FX4 with 6.5' bed (157 wheelbase). Since a LARIET 157 WB was likely to be another year wait, I went with an extra loaded packaged XLT. IMHO the shorter 5.5 bed is disproportionally useless for the 12" difference. If I wanted to buy a Honda Ridgeline, I would have,..... but here in Florida folks are Gaga about vehicles that are useless - neither a SUV or a truck, but lots of room for ignorant bumperstickers.

With the 6.5' bed I can load most longish stuff securely in the back, including 8' lumber turned at an angle inside my LEER cap. I can do a lot DIY projects with this truck. It tows largish boats and trailers very well, and 'feels' correct and proportional for maunevering and backing.

I admit turning radius (never great in a F150 4x4) may require an extra joggle, and its a hair long in a standard parking space...... but down here in God's Waiting Room, every Buick and Cadillac is taking up two spaces at an angle, half-hanging out into the lane while oxygen tanks and walkers get loaded. With a little care and common sense, I can fit in just about any space and parallel park downtown.

And finally, I think it looks better. Visually more balanced.

Someone's done a graphic of the evolution of the F150 cab-vs-bed configuation. Its rather shocking to see. There is no quetion the Supercrew in comfy, but I think its gone a little overboard. But folks are buying the 5 1/2 bed, so what do I know. Nonetheless, since I don't need an F250 Diesel, if they ever get rid of the 157 WB, I guess that will be my last Ford.

Not having the 6.5ft box was a deal breaker for me. But it feel like 145wb is much more popular. The 157 wb is not available with all the trims and their is a good price difference between the 145 and 157. I also wish the next Lightning will offer the 157.

For those that find the 157" wheelbase F150 objectionable because of its lack of parking prowess, I admit it's noticeable.

But I have an F350 with 176" wheelbase and all I have to do is drive it every once in a while to alter my 157" perception. 😁

BTW, I love both trucks for what their mission is. But they are very different weapons.

Whatever works for the buyer. There is no better or worse, get what you want or need and be happy. I would have bought either but the truck that checked the most boxes was a short bed Tremor. Wasn’t looking necessarily for a Tremor but the price was great, got a great trade, and it had the 402 package with a sunroof. Wife said buy it and I said yes mam with a smile.😊

Indeed, love the 6.5 foot bed but it's not the only way. It's kind of like when people say they will cook meals at home someday if they have a commercial grade kitchen at home.

Then people like me and my family cook about every meal on basic appliances without anything special and eat healthy lol.

Lots of projects completed on my fixer upper home using a 5 1/2 foot bed lol.

My last truck was the super crew 'long bed's and as useful as it was for my use case it made no sense compared to just getting the 6.75 ft bed F250. If I'm going to deal with a truck that basically has the same size as a super duty I'd rather just have the super duty. I also only need a truck for towing our travel trailer. While the longer wheelbase is a better towing platform the rest of the time it's a pain in the rear.

Actually, in a straight line the longer wheelbase rides better. Physics is on its side.
Generally speaking yes, however on some sections of LA Freeways the sectioned concrete resonates with the 157" wheelbase badly.

I personally see 157 WB trucks all over the place out here in the west, drove my bosses one and hated how unmaneuverable it was, U turns aren’t really possible in them haha.
What I never see are the RCSB trucks like mine. I only see them when I’m in AZ or NM for work.

And driving an SD is going to improve that how? Get an SD if use warrants, but doing so because its virtually the same footprint as a 157" 150 is just silly. They ride bad, the lift in height (lift over) is a PITA, the fuel economy sucks as does handling on rough roads (see rides bad).

I did this last weekend. Ford doesn't seem to want to build the 157 I've had ordered since March. So I've been keeping my eyes open and a sorta-local dealer has an 250 that looked like it might work, so we took it for a ride. Made sure the tire pressures were down at 50, but even with that the truck had a hard time getting out of its own way pulling away from a stop on the broken pavement that is the norm in NE. Tires just skipped and hopped over the cracks under accelleration. Poor ride was an understatement and the addtional height accentuates the headtoss at surface transitions. It was bad enough that I then asked to drive an F150 again just to be sure that the hour drive to get there in my well-used '16 Tundra hadn't jaundiced my butt about ride quality. No, the 150 was nicer than the Tundra, the 250 was just that bad.

If you need the capacities, great. But the idea of going SD because the footprint of a 157 is big, that just makes no sense to me at all.

I see more older generation 157 wheelbase trucks. I really don't ever see the newer ones.

The most common I see is 06 to '08 (only MY's Screw 6.5' were made during the 11th gen) , 09 to 14.

The newer ones are a lot more rare around where I am. I don't even know if I've seen a 24 plus yet.

I have a 157 wb super crew. In all my travels I rarely see a 157 wb truck. Ford probably sells 1 long bed for every 10,000 short bed. I'm guessing here, but it would be nice if we could see actual sales figures. Do you think Ford will discontinue this configuration because of low sales? I know people buy the short bed because of greater maneuverability/garage space, but honestly I prefer the long bed because of greater versatility. Thanks.
Now that I'm in AZ, I hardly see them. They were everywhere in CO. I really wished I had the standard bed last night when I was picking up these 15ft kayaks. Actually, F150s arent incredibly common here either compared to silverados. I always had the impression silverados and camaros weren't popular because they are hideous, but I guess the heat dries the eyes down here.
