I find the "Long/Short" terminology curious.

F-150's are available with 3 beds.

5.5
6.5
8

Short, medium, and long.

Yet the medium is regularly called a short or long depending on the cab!

Yes, I understand availability depends on the cab... but it's the same bed! :p
I don't know if Ford still does it or not but on the 12th Gen (my last truck) they called the 8ft the long bed, the 6.5 was the "standard bed," and the 5.5 was the short bed. As you said though the bed length is limited based on the cab. It doesn't really make it any clearer though 😂

Autotrader is a great site to check for availability statistics because so many trucks are on it. New, used, CPO, 3rd party. They also have filters for just about everything, including bed size.

Nationwide search for 2021-2025 F-150:

All cabs and beds........103,789
Crew cab...............................97,123
CC with short bed......... 72,802
CC with medium bed.... 2,901
CC with Long bed......................0

So yes, by these numbers the 157 CC with a medium bed is fairly rare.

Interesting. Thanks for doing this.

Interesting. Thanks for doing this.
You're welcome. I did the same for my RCSB XLT with the medium bed and found none available with the Baja interior! There was one with the long bed. So quite rare as I suspected. Doubtfull I'll ever see another.

Notice on the CC figures above the two bed sizes don't add up to the total of all listed. This is due to the balance being unspecified bed size. Even so, the percentages between short/medium is likely inline with those shown.

157 F150 are rare. I almost bought a 2020 but with Max tow it rode too rough for my tastes. On the other hand if I have the longer bed, and a cap it would make a great place to put my camp bed in for road trips.

My Marsh Gray 157" PB was a dealer trade from Michigan. There were only two in a 500 mile radius from my dealer in OH, and the other had a moon roof and FX4 which I didn't want. Lucky to get it.

When I bought my 2021 Platinum PB, my accountant told me that with a 5.5' bed I could take the 179 accelerated depreciation of $25,000 in the first year. If the bed was 6' or more (6.5') then it qualified for a 100% write-down in the first year. I bet those seeking a 6.5' bed are frequently using this schedule, and Ford knows it and won't stop making them because of this. Turning radius is huge compared to a short bed like my 2013, should be fixed.

I have a 157 wb super crew. In all my travels I rarely see a 157 wb truck. Ford probably sells 1 long bed for every 10,000 short bed. I'm guessing here, but it would be nice if we could see actual sales figures. Do you think Ford will discontinue this configuration because of low sales? I know people buy the short bed because of greater maneuverability/garage space, but honestly I prefer the long bed because of greater versatility. Thanks.

When I was shopping for a new or low mileage 5.0 super crew 4x4 157” I found 2 used XLT under 30k no used lariats . No new XLT “24” and a few way over priced lariats. I drove 300 miles for the used one I bought. I do see a few Xl Gov/contractor 157” super crew trucks. I settled for the XLT and think it was best choice for me. I got it in central Cal but for 38k with 10k on factory warranty was the best I could find.
In 2004 I bought an extended cab Chevy Z-71 because they didn’t offer a 6’6” bed in the crew 1500. Liked the truck but hated that it wasn’t a crew. I bought a used F350 in 05 that was a 6’6 bed. If Ford doesn’t offer a 6’6 bed in the future on crew cabs I’ll go back to GM 1500. I now have a 2500 HD crew 4x4 GMC Denali I tow my fifth wheel with. I have been pretty happy with it except the DEF is under the hood. So if your willing to drive for one their out there.

Turning radius is way worse on my 2024 157" KR than my 2012 157" Platinum!

I'd like to check which one will fit in my garage.

On the Supercrews, what are the practical lengths for the 5.5' and 6.5' beds? Like as in Garage impact

Is there a towing Capacity difference in the 5.5 vs 6.5 trucks?

In the 1/2 ton most American made trucks are available with both. The most common are the 5.5 bed due to garage length. My daughter lives in a nice home in Vegas and when they were shopping for there house it was hard to find a place that fit there F-250 crew with a 6.5’ bed. In the 3/4 ton and higher the 8’ bed is still an option. I had to buy a special fifth wheel hitch that travels back when I turn sharp with the 6.5’ bed. In the 5.5’ foot bed couldn’t pull any thing I’ve seen in a fifth wheel. Newer trailers have changed the length and shape to accommodate the 6.6’ bed due. My RZR-S fits in the 6.5 bed with tail gate down. I would say that the longer wheel base rides better but the 5.5’ bed on my daughters f-150 2019 rides better then mine. Don’t know why.

My 2023.F-150 super crew 4x4 6.5’ bed is 244” so to get around the front of your truck you would need about 22’ inside. Mine is 25’ and it still is I little tight. The towing very depends on motor- rear end gears and if equipped with a tow package. That said, power boost and 5.0 will have plenty of power. I prefer the 5.0 but many of my friends like the 3.5 power boost. Ember the law requires trailer brakes for trailers much lighter than the trucks can pull I believe around 3k pounds. When you buy your truck get the factory trailer brake controller included. I didn’t and bought it as an afterthought. This cost an extra $600. 300 for controller and 300 for programming. This system is much better than aftermarket ones I’ve used. Hope this helps.

I had both my 6.5' bed and have my 5.5' bed trucks in my garage. The only reason they fit well is because I have a tandem spot, the shorter truck fits noticeably better.

Ford does not rate the trucks any different, but the longer wheelbase should provide a more stable towing platform. That being said I've towed my travel trailer with both (different generations truck) and don't notice much difference between them.
