I ran the updates on mine today and had issues with the BCM.
@Big Dog Daddy I did not survive the great BCM update of 2024. ? Jesse had to roll mine back.

Well. Rotunda tester said "good" and charged it to 12.67v.

Get home from a 30 min hwy drive "shut down truck to save battery!"....

WTF Ford.

I did the BCM reset once I parked to maybe recycle it's idea of when to charge the battery... Clearly it's not charging while I drive.

Goes back to shop on Tuesday.

Also kinda ridiculous there's no way to show a voltmeter on any display. Something that analog vehicles had FOREVER....

When I upgraded to an H8 I cut my old blanket with a sharp knife and gently stretched it to fit (mostly) around the new H8 battery and reconnected using a few zip ties. I'm not convinced a perfectly fitting battery blanket does anything anyway. Maybe keeps the battery 0.5 degrees F "warmer" overnight or something? Buffers against engine heat a tiny bit better? Maybe.

I never had a blanket on any of my battery's. Living in Manitoba, we get cold weather and winds. I thought it's being a AGM and not an old style. Out of 13 vehicles, 4 were in a garage over night, the other 9 lived outside all the time I had them.

Most likely just old or bad battery but you might get dealer to replace it. Good luck.

He just the dealer do a Rotunda test and it passed.

@TexasTea Looks like you're gonna have to pay for a new battery out of pocket. I'd go with an H7 at least since you gotta buy one anyway.

Dam! Skier, I'm sorry to hear that! At least it didn't blow out any of your modules. I'm glad that Jesse was able to bail you out. He's helped me out before as well. I don't know what we'd all do without him. He's a true asset to all of us here.

I mean if truck is having low battery messages after rotunda test, isn't that logging a code they can see?

I agree aftermarket is best option I said that hours ago because fighting dealer over a battery is just a headache.

And make sure the H7 is 800 CCA rather that 760 CCA.

I agree aftermarket is best option I said that hours ago because fighting dealer over a battery is just a headache.

Not sure if it is recording any low voltage codes, but without a failed test, they can't claim it under warranty, so it wouldn't matter anyway.

The optima h7 is 880 CCA. Seems fine. Will report back after Tuesday diagnostics but I fully expect to just go buy a new battery
