Took my 2022 F150 to the dealership 4 weeks ago for the rear view screen recall and it's still there! The tech says the apim won't accept the update and Ford won't approve a new apim, keeps sending them different updates and expecting a different result I guess. Anyone else have problems with this recall? Sad thing is I didn't have any problems with the rear view, truck was in to get something else fixed. Really liked my truck, want to get it back. They have no idea when it'll be, Ford engineering is in charge apparently.

Mine went in for new tires and general service, and they did the "recall". I was having issues (it would lock up/get stuck at the Ford logo periodically.

It took 3 days for them to get the truck back to me. They blamed it on bad internet service, and that the update kept failing; perhaps it wasn't their issue at the service center.

The only things I've noticed to have changed are that the opening Ford Logo has changed (much more basic versus the previous version) and that my "+" sign button, when in reverse, no longer gives me the top-down view to show me the trailer hitch. Very annoying, as that was a great feature.

I see that Ford used to have someone on the forum that would ask you to send your vin and the dealer and try and help you. Are they still on here?

Can't say I'm surprised. It's sad cause I've seen GM and Ram still try and help people on the forums.

There's an active person from Ford on the Lightning sister forum. Not sure why they don't come here.

@dk2 Doug, do you by chance know what your version of Sync was before it went to the dealer?
@Shine270 Mike, what is your version of Sync in Settings > General > About SYNC?

I only ask because of this SSM; maybe @rugedraw can look into your truck's record?

My FDRS license expired, so I can no longer see pending updates or vehicle history to see what the dealer did or didn't do. I still have PTS, but I can only see limited things there that would not be of use to the OP. From what the OP is saying, the update is there, but it just won't take. So if his truck is affected by the SSM, there would be some update(s) that can be done even if not all of them to be fully up to date.

Without FDRS, I am working blindly here. Even if I had some idea to get the update to go through, he would need FDRS too. You can't do anything with FORScan when it comes to APIM programming.

Forwarded that bulletin to my service rep. I assume they know about that but ... It's interesting, they said 7 of the 8 modules that need updating took it, just the apim remains unwilling. So kinda fits. Thanks for the bulletin.

I never got the letter from Ford saying that they had the final fix for the problem. Did you guys get the letter? My dealer has been hounding me to bring it in but after reading this I’m in no hurry.

If you have an apim update showing, you are not affected by the SSM. At least not yet. You can't update from an old version of sync to the latest in one shot. So depending on how far you can get updated, you may or may not be affected. If even if you're not affected, you still may not be able to update to the latest version because Ford is a disaster. You can only update as far a whatever they have available for your VIN. Why the apim update isn't going through for them has nothing to do with that SSM. The fact that there is an apim update showing that they can do is a good thing.
