Crikey, seems like just buying a new truck truck world have been easier than that swap! Wow. In the old days no big deal but now it's all electronics....
Yeah they had to keep contacting Ford engineering. The dealers don't have the technician knowledge or the access to tech that they need to diagnose. They blamed my low battery problems on diodes I put in for flat towing, which was total crap. Charged me $400 to remove them! I had to pay or...
Buddy just bought a new Ram. 4 days in brake booster died. They couldn't find one and didn't know when they could so they took his truck back and gave him a new one so he wouldn't claim lemon law on it. Colorado. First day he had it check engine and other lights came on and they couldn't...
Yeah, these trucks aren't very tolerant of anything non stock. I dealer took out the diodes and I'm not putting them back. Very fragile computer architecture and bus.
They tried to blame the failure of the cooling fans, ac, and right headlight module on the diodes I put in to turn on the tailights when flat towing. They really don't understand their own systems.
Mine was in for the exact same issue for 5 weeks before they sorted out out with Ford. Finally changed out the module and then it took the update. I find the previous comment very interesting because Ford engineering was supposedly taking a week to get neck to the dealer each time. I wonder...
My truck was in 5 weeks for the rear camera recall. Party of it was dealership, they have 1 guy who can do it and he took a week off so no progress. The rest of it, and the other 4 weeks my truck was in the shop since May, were complex software issues that the dealership techs had to ask Ford...
I turned off my over the air connectivity. You can do it in settings. When I had a problem they didn't have any of the data they normally get when it's turned on so I think it does actually turn off their access of you want it to. I'd rather not have them do random updates, I can wait and see...
My recent experience is that battery voltage is crucial to the proper operation of all the modules. I had a low battery start and it scrambled everything, took them 2 weeks to sort it out. Some trucks seem to have more drains in the battery for some reason I don't intend, but the fact that...
If you look it up, batteries are affected as much by heat as they are by cold. The blanket protects then from the high under hood heat from the turbos etc.
So I finally got my truck back yesterday after 5 weeks in the shop for the rest screen recall. They replaced the tft module, I think that was the name of it. Telecom. Interestingly that's not the module the dealership thought was causing the problems so if I was out of warranty they might...
I did. I'm driving a brand new Bronco. 50 miles on it when I got it. But I bought a pickup cause I use it for stuff. The bronco is basically a toy. My warranty is up Nov 15, we'll see what happens after that if it's still there. At the rate Ford engineering is guessing it very well could...
Mine is at the dealer now, been there 5 weeks so far for the recall. Seems the apim won't accept the update, the other seven modules do. Ford finally authorized a new module, but it's not the apim. It's about 2 weeks between engineering having new ideas so I'm out of a truck even though it is...
