Agree, but i can see the insurance company going back on Ford through subrogation in the event the insurance company paid out on a claim that is as a result of a recall that wasn't addressed due to a lack of a solution or parts.

It would not be surprising. Ford just sent me a survey and asked what else I wanted to tell them and I suggested that they needed to the recall issue resolved.
Agree on roadside stops, I knew two people who were killed in this way. Too many idiots out there.

I’ve towed quite a bit on the original axles. We even did a 4000 mile trip last summer. The original bolts never broke, and no issues otherwise.

I received the letter from Ford in early August. Took my truck in for inspection in mid August. Parts were “expedited” late August. Parts arrived last week and were replaced today.

Mine (2021 screw with only 20k miles) sheered off in June this year while crossing a road. Barely made it to the other side. Been is the shop waiting for parts for coming up on 4 months now. No help from Ford whatsoever. Might be nice of they'd prioritize parts for actual failures over preemptive measures, but that would make too much sense.

What month was the recall announcement with the new axle design? I thought it was later than June that Ford ran dry on axle/hub assemblies. (both original and new design)

Regardless, that's just inexcusable for the truck to be out of service that long.

By the way, not sure I understand shearing a bolt and immediately losing drive.

retired!
What month was the recall announcement with the new axle design?
Notice to dealers was May 2, 2025 (immediately available to the 'knowing' public on various websites)

NHTSA and Ford, com VIN / owner websites were updated within a very few days.

Personalized mailings started being actually received by owners early June IIRC.

Thanks.
Not surprised that you'd have the data. 😁

It seems like early on, which would be June chronologically speaking, the official recall inventory existed. At least I remember lots of folks reporting that it was being successfully fulfilled for a few weeks. (prior to suddenly, and alarmingly, drying up)

If you lost your rear axle, I don't see why you couldn't just put it in 4x4 and get off the road or even drive home. I know not everyone has 4x4. But its also not realistic to say everyone's just dead in the water, gonna be stuck in the middle of the road on the interstate

Here's my 0.2. 2021 Powerboost screw /w max tow. Just passed 20k miles (yeah, it's a weekender). In early June I was crossing the road after having had dinner and I lost all power to the rear. Managed to coast across the street into another parking lot. Had a flatbed tow it to ine of the bigger dealers in my vicinity, but it was still miles out (Corning Ford, in the Chico, CA area. It's been at the dealer for coming up on 5 months now. Lemon law was a bust because I bought it in WA state. Ford customer service was a bust because I never heard from them again after they found out what state the vin was from. The only reason I contacted them in the first place was because the truck has already been in service dept for 3 months at the time. I got service reps text and email and have been ghosted ever since first contact despite having an actual case number and contact person. Thanks Ford, really had great summer camping and fishing with my son thanks to you. Oh and I did finally get a loaner after the second month. Was it a truck? Nope. Was it at least a midsized car? Nope. But as long as I have no adults or children over 3 feet tall in the back I guess you could say it's a passenger vehicle. Good times.

Is this due to the axle or some other issue?

🤥 something with your two posts (and you only have 2 after joining earlier this month) does not pass the 👃 smell test. Mine was sheared for months…never lost power. Many have reported the same. As soon as I properly reported shared bolt I was repaired in less than a week. Many have reported the a similar experience. You use it as a weekender so you have other vehicles to drive and complain about the loaner. You leave it unattended and lack of follow up from dealer and ford…for MONTHS! So either you’re not real, or you’re trying real hard to chase an ambulance. Which law firm are you with?

What's your point exactly? I have NOTHING to "gain" from lying about this.. Nor frankly do I cate what smells right to you. At this point I've been without my truck since June 12th. Tell you what, I'll scan and upload the work order, the $600 towing bill, and you'll still think something doesn't "smell right?" Or will yiu close you're rude-ass mouth? Your choice oh great protector of all that is truthful...
