So I finally got my truck back yesterday after 5 weeks in the shop for the rest screen recall. They replaced the tft module, I think that was the name of it. Telecom. Interestingly that's not the module the dealership thought was causing the problems so if I was out of warranty they might have replaced the apim first at my cost. They thought it was the apim cause that's the one that wouldn't accept the update. All the programming time and parts came to over $10k they said, mostly shop time. Yikes. Next plan is put in an H8 ordered the correct blanket yesterday.
TCU is the modem. I can't see vehicle history anymore to see where they struggled, but certain modules need to be updates in a certain order to release more updates, and the APIM and TCU are two of them. I am thinking the TCU was not taking the update needed to release the APIM update, so once they replaced the TCU and updated it, it released the APIM update needed to satisft the recall.

Yeah, not sure if a different dealer would have done better. Thoughts?

Maybe even a different tech. Some are better at these things than others. Some guys are better at turning wrenches than they are at programming modules.

Course the problem there is I think they only have 1 guy that does that cause he was out one weekend and I lost significant time.

It's so bass aquards. Microsoft can re-flash a total operating system in less than 1 hour and ford can't even do it in 8.

Finally got 25094_PRODUCT revision 1779 last night. The Ford app still shows the rear camera screen software update "incomplete" but maybe it just takes some time to update the status. Either way, I'm happy it finally updated.
Finally the Ford app removed "Incomplete" status 15 days after the dealer did the update.
