My 2011 Volvo XC70 had intelligent door handles on all 4 doors, but by 2016 they had dropped the rear doors. It was very handy.

Yes. The lighting has rear smart handles so it is definitely possible. There is a chance the wiring needed is in the body harness so that would leave getting the wiring to the handles and then proper programming. I’m speculating here obviously.seems some dont exactly understand the OP's request. Yes, you can set up your settings to unlock ALL doors when you touch the drivers side door handle but thats not exactly what hes saying. yes you can open your drivers door and unlock all doors...thats not what hes saying either.
Hes asking for a smart rear door handle so you can just grab a rear handle and open a door without having to negotiate the drivers handle or key fob. i know to some that seems so ridiculous but my wifes VW is that way. you can go to any handle and it'll unlock that specific door. again, first world problems.
btw, i know in the VW world owners were able to add smart handles. trying to remember if it was just installing the handle, wiring and coding...or if the wiring was already there and it was just the handle and coding...do any current F150's come with smart handle for the rear?
If you bothered to read earlier posts in the thread, you'd see that the rear handles on the Lightning are wired to a module that isn't in ICE F-150s. While it is probably still technically possible, it's not going to be just replacing the handles running a couple wires.Yes. The lighting has rear smart handles so it is definitely possible. Really? Calm down. I’m sorry I did not see all that until after I had wrote that. For some reason I did not see all that. I did read what Jesse said but for whatever reason it was after I had made my response. If you bothered to read earlier posts in the thread, you'd see that the rear handles on the Lightning are wired to a module that isn't in ICE F-150s. Our Expedition has it on all four doors. And, like you mention, it is molded into the handle and is more responsive than the black button on my F150. I've gotten used to just hitting the bottom two buttons on the keypad to lock the truck instead of trying to get that black button to respond. My wife's explorer has this and I wish mine did. Her lock button is also a bit nicer as well. It's molded into the handle (little lock on the top) instead of a black square and is more responsive.
I don't know if the black square is just a carryover from the previous gen (though my 13th gen was more responsive to lock) or if there is another reason.
If anyone finds out how to do the back doors, I'd be interested. Yes I can just use the front door, but it's a lot easier to just walk up to the door. Also the kids are used to the wife's car and think they can unlock it from the back doors...LOL. I swear one day they are going to rip the handles off![]()
I asked my salesman about this when I picked my truck up. I told him my wife’s Lexus had this feature and it was really nice. He said “well you paid for that by getting a Lexus”. Really? My Platinum was $15k more then the Lexus!
I guarantee their today's excuse is the chip shortage. But then again... Lightning has it on all 4 handles.

yep, its getting past the point of ridiculousBlame the bean counters for most of this. They are responsible for many of the features and amenities customers have come to expect be installed on a 60-80K vehicle getting removed while raising the MSRP. Oh sure they're using the chip shortage as a crutch, but there's only so long they can continue to beat that horse.

My '20 Ranger had it on all 4 doors and I used it frequently. When I first got the F150 I was rather surprised it didn't have it and caught myself grabbing the rear door handles to unlock it only to remember it's only on the front doors.I’ve read this thread and thought a little about it and compared my own usage/habits. I may be interested in doing this, if possible, because I can definitely see the convenience factor.
