Is it possible for me to purchase the harness and the stalk? I have a new rain sensor, but it doesn’t work with just Forscan reprogramming.

Yes please. I guess I need the stalk and the harness? Does that sound right? 2021 XLT 302A. What information do you need from me?

I have the rain sensor installed and Forscan reprogrammed, however the dealer told me I need the auto stalk (and perhaps the harness). Does this sound right for a 2023 Lariat?

What are the Ford part numbers and what do they cost? Is it possible to add back the heated steering wheel feature at the same time?

That would be surprising to me as I was able to add just the sensor to my 2023 XLT 302A (along with the required Forscan changes) and got the auto wipers working. Are you sure that you made all of the necessary changes in Forscan, confirmed that auto wipers are turned on in the trucks settings menu, and verified that the wiper stalk is located between the single and triple raindrop positions? The auto wiper stalk is included with the SCCM for the heated steering wheel (~$200), but so you know, the cost for a Lariat heated steering wheel assembly recently increased from ~$150 to ~$475+.

Have you checked for power at the plug going to the rain sensor ? Should have 12V DC on the outer 2 terminals, black being the ground.

I believe it is ML3Z-13K359-BA for vehicles without the electric tilt and telescope and ML3Z-13K359-DA if you do have electric tilt and telescope. This was from my earlier research, but you do not need the rain sensing wiper stalk for this mod to work. It’s working on mine without it. The off position is off, the speed settings are the minimum speed the wipers will run once the sensor sees rain.
These are the parts I needed for my 2023 Lariat 3.5L EB 4x4 SC (no High package):
- Windshield rain sensor module #LU5Z17D547B ($50)
- Auto stalk (combination switch) #ML3Z-13K359-AA ($43; also comes in BA & DA versions for different trims)

My local Ford dealer charged me $169 for the Forscan programming but did not charge anything extra for the parts installation.

Update on mine, the sensor by itself didn't work on my 21 xl, but adding the harness from infotainment did the trick. I didn't check to see if the dtc went away, but when everything worked as it should I decided not to worry about it. I'll check it next time I'm making a forscan change.

So now that I got these working, is it just me or do they kind of suck? They only seem to work on the highest setting, and even then, it can go from full wiping to shutting down and parking the blades with no real change in the rate of rain. If I bump it down to any of the lower notches it usually just parks the wipers and randomly does a pass here and there. I know there is some logic in how they work, in a heavy rain storm they bumped up to the highest speed for a bit, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency in the lower settings or when it's not raining hard.

So far I've only used the two highest settings. The highest was going ridiculously fast during a decent rain and when I moved it down one, it was a little less than I wanted. Overall, I like them, but they don't seem to have the sweet spot for different rain intensities that I was expecting.

The two highest settings work the best for me. The lowest setting is ok, but during heavy rain it left a lot to be desired and didn’t top out at the highest speed. On the middle and upper setting they work great. I was coming back from VT along I-90 when the torrential rains that flooded a lot of that region and downstate NY were moving through CNY and they performed great, really didn’t have to think about them.

Yeah, upon further review I think I messed up the gel pack that goes between the sensor and windshield, which means replace the whole sensor.

Got mine working tonight! I didn't need the harness, likely because of my 360 cams, so it was just plug and play for the sensor. I made the Forscan changes in "easy mode" and searched for rain and wipe on the various pages. Here are screen shots. "Smart Front Wiper" and "Rain Sensor" enabled in the SCCM and then Rain Sensor in both the APIM and IPC.

I agree with others that it's not super optimal in terms of performance, at least testing with a hose. I currently have it set at the highest setting, which if you don't get the wiper stalk, is the "fastest" of the intermittent wiper settings. The intermittent settings act as sensitivity when rain sensing is enabled.

OK, could use some help/suggestions. Got the harness from Jesse, plugged that in along with the sensor. Went to program with Forscan but for some reason the APIM wont let me edit line 7D0-09-04. When I try to write the new values I get a message saying:

Gain access failed - security key wrong
Service procedure has been interrupted.

The other modules let me edit without any troubles.

Anyone have a clue what's wrong ?

BTW,also tried editing that line using the "easy " method but got same error message.
