At the suggestion by NitroDarwin, I fired up the computer and checked - using forscan - to see if there were any DTC’s caused by my deactivation of the button light. There were none.
While I was there, I wondered if I could turn start/stop back on by changing the setting in the HVAC module back...
I did not see any DTC's in forscan at the time I made the change to the HVAC table with the 4d eliminator installed.
There are no warning lights on the instrument cluster. I'll connect the computer and run forscan in the next couple of days to see if it shows any DTC's.
Will also check start...
Auto start/stop was never an issue for me but after almost five years of flawless operation, I decided that it might be best to turn it off to prevent possible failure of the starter and associated parts due to repeated operations.
After some research I decided to buy a 4d-tech auto start/stop...
The sealant is a gasket.
The Ford extended warranty says - under the basic care section - that seals and GASKETS are covered.
An example of how Ford defines sealant as a gasket can be found in the 2021 f150 service manual under section 205-02A “Differential Housing Cover” where Ford defines...
The experience described by ws11 has led me to provide an account of my experience with a stripped oil drain plug repair.
I’m retired. Being retired after many years of getting up and going to work leaves one with a lot of time to fill so I sometimes buy an old car to work on.
My most recent...

Check out this part from Ford.
I had the dealer install it on my truck (2021 RCSB XLT). The cost for my installation was $60 but I see that the cost is now $210.
You will need a hood latch switch for this thing to work.
You can verify that you have such a switch by opening the...
I check oil in everything – lawn mowers, garden tillers, air compressors, cars, trucks, transmissions, differentials, etc.
When it came to the transmissions on my various trucks, I wondered why I need to check the transmission fluid hot?
Aren’t all Ford transmissions used in our trucks...
I have noticed on this forum and other Ford forums that there is concern about engine oil level and rightfully so.
For four years in the early 70’s, I was an apprentice in the Operating Engineers. Interspersed with the training was always the requirement that all oil levels in the machines that...
The camera button stopped working in my truck after an upgrade from the factory.
Even if I don’t use a feature often, if it came with the truck and I paid for it, it should work.
I asked the dealer to look into the problem while they had the truck for another issue but the tech couldn’t...
My truck is at the dealer to have the camera button repaired as per TSB 23-2416.
They gave me a 2024 Ranger as a loaner.
The first time I parked the Ranger I heard a tone beeping.
After a few seconds I determined that the tone/beeper was reminding me to check the back seat for passengers that...
Even if you are able to get into the truck, you will not be able to start it if you have somehow lost your key or fob.
Maybe, if you are sure that you can get into the truck, you could hide a spare key somewhere inside of the cab or under the hood.
I think this will work if you have a key...
It’s been a while but I believe that the motors are identical.
I don’t have the truck here to verify because the dealer has it repairing the rear camera button function that was disabled by an over the air update.
8 inches should work but if it doesn’t you can make adjustments easily enough...
I was a GM person for most of my life. I never really trusted Ford to be reliable. This is probably because of spark plugs breaking off in the head (I thought this happened with all Ford engines) and other issues that I picked up while watching car shows in addition to “Found on road dead”, “Fix...

My truck is a 2021 F-150 XLT with a standard cab and six and a half foot bed (122 inch wheelbase). 3.73 gears with a 5.0 engine.
Out of curiosity, I bought a Borla Type S exhaust for the truck.
Removal of the stock system was not all that difficult. The stock system is held on with two bolts...
Thanks, everyone, for the input.
Out of curiosity, I ordered a Borla S-type system for the truck.
Once it arrives and I get it installed, I’ll post my thoughts on whether the system stays on the truck or ends up on eBay.
A few days ago, I was relaxing on the front porch when a newer Mustang drove by maybe about 30 -35 mph.
I don’t know what year it was but it did have 5.0 badges and it had absolutely the best exhaust sound that I have heard in a long time.
I have a 5.0 engine in my truck and although it isn’t...
Here is my experience with removing blocks and installing lowering shackles:

The infotainment screen went black in my 2021 XLT about 5 months ago..
I shut the truck off, opened the door and restarted but the screen remained black. Repeated the sequence a couple of times with no good result.
Called the dealer. They said that the apim was bad and scheduled a replacement...
