Thank you for listening! I do have a case open with Ford. They have declined a buyback as it does not qualify for my state. Missed it by a few months and a couple thousand miles.

I wish the dealers knew more about these issues and how to diagnose them.
I have an extended 3rd party warranty. Do you think Ford will give me a Ford ESP?
another tip would be to apply for financial assistance through Ford (dealer can help)for anything you do have to pay out-of-pocket. originally they were going to cover 70% of one of my repairs, but the dealer escalated it and got them to cover 100% of the work that was out of warranty.

Wow.. that is great news.. Ford tells me that once the problem is diagnosed they will see what assistance, if any is available. Maybe this is what they are referring to…

my dealership was also able to get my ESP backdated so that helped a bit. they have also provided loaners for most of the year minus the couple days It took them to arrange one once or twice. although they don’t have the expertise in house to diagnose and fix the issue themselves, they have really gone above and beyond to help me anyway they can.

I feel my dealer is on my side. They have done everything in their power to help so far. Also, I know some of them personally. They do not supply loaners though… This part has been hard. (Did not buy it from them)

I have a diagnosis!

The dealer collected data and Ford engineers have determined the hybrid battery to have failed. The replacement was ordered today. They do not have an eta as of yet.

The hybrid battery arrived today. They are estimating 2-4 days to repair and fully test.

Hoping everything goes as planned…

The dealer just called and they have the truck repaired. It has been in the shop one month as of yesterday. I will be picking it up later today.

Fingers crossed that everything will be 100% resolved!

Oh, how I have missed my truck!!!

Edit: Picked it up and all is working normally..

Now I have one rear parking sensor not working. Hope it’s just a connection.

This is the first story I have heard of the HV battery being the issue. Although I'll admit I haven't researched for it very much.

Glad to hear it was resolved to your satisfaction. Did Ford cover the cost of the HV battery?

Only a month? That’s a fair amount of time if they ultimately fixed the issue

Mine has been replaced but wasn’t the issue. Ended up being the main harness that connects everything together and the HV harness. Full HV system came close to being replaced but they only ended up changing out the HV fuse box and BECM and one of the battery cells

I am extremely nervous that something still could be wrong. I have only put 50 miles on so far. However, the issue was happening every drive within a mile before. Time will tell…

The entire hybrid repair was turned into Ford warranty.

My only cost was the oil change and a $100 deductible for my 3rd party warranty that covered the steering issue that happened while it was at the dealer. They replaced the steering module and “gear”. Rack? (Not sure exactly but this would have been $2500)
I am very happy with the outcome.

I am not complaining on the time to repair… I was very worried that it would be even longer..

I am however nervous that something still could be wrong since I only have 50 miles on so far.
Before the repair it would happen within a mile, so fingers crossed!

If you're still within the 41 month window you can refund your 3rd party ESP and get a ford one. Clearly your mileage is good.

The dealer used it to cover the $2600 steering repair. It covered all but $100. Would this disqualify a refund of it?

Depends on what the paperwork says, might have a max payout and your refund prorated from its use. Not sure how it compares vs ford's on price and coverage. The devil is in the details.
