Thanks! After my post, I read the owners manual as instructed and discovered what you just shared. Thanks again for the follow-up.

I have been getting this randomly over the past month. It eventually clears and then reappears. Have not noticed any issue while driving whether the fault is displayed or not. Going to be two weeks before dealer has an opening with the right technician

Mine just says "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power
What is Happening? Illuminates when the system has detected a powertrain or four-wheel drive fault."

No other useful info.

Approx. 18K miles

So now when I start my truck I have the annoying oil change light because of the oil life going to 0% and the seatbelt light and the powertrain malfunction wrench light that I need to clear with "OK" before driving off. Love the truck but this is ridiculous

Just back from the Ford Service Center. They diagnosed my Powertrain Fault as a shifter module issue. They had to order the part and are replacing it under warranty. I will post the news about the oil life issue in the appropriate thread (hint: there is a fix but it is a 2-3 hour software update!)

Back from Ford today. They replace the shifter module (I think) and did a software update to fix the powertrain fault error that kept coming up. Apparently there is now a technical service bulletin for it now. So far, so good. We shall see.

Good news is even though they updated a bunch of modules, my ForScan changes seem to remain intact.

I am looking forward to not having to dismiss that message every time I start my truck!
