Recently my ford dealer changed the electric transmission pump of my F150.

After they changed the pump, every time I tow my RV the transmission temperature gauge climb and there is a whining noise coming from the transmission. As the temperature of the transmission rise, the whining coming from my transmission increase... To stop the whine, I need to stop on the side of the road for 10-15 min to let it cool down...

The truck only make the noise when towing my 6k pound travel trailer.

I drove my truck to the dealer so they can have a look at what is happening to my truck, they tested it and found nothing wrong with my it. They tried to replicate the issue but without the travel trailer they can't replicate the whining...

The temperature never went above the yellow line, here is a pic of the highest it went.

Thanks!

You’re very low on fluid. That sounds, to me, like pump cavitation. Did the dealer only fill it cold with the engine off? They’d be a few quarts low if so. I would not accept anything but a new transmission at this point. Also I would not tow let alone drive the truck

I don't know how they fill my transmission back... I asked some question to the guy at the dealership and he doesn't seems to know...

I will ask them to have a look.

Do you know if there is an easy way to check fluid level?
Thanks

They should know how to do it. No the check is not really easy I would wholly leave it on the dealer for liability. The engine needs to be running and transmission at almost 100° C to check the proper level. The dipstick is next to the exhaust on the passenger side of the transmission.

I tow another 1,500lbs heavier, including in the mountains and have never heard that.

Whatever it is, it doesn't sound good.

Has the dealer heard that vid?

I'm inclined to agree, where in Canafa are you at? I can recommend 3 really good dealers for you that won't jack you around, my 2023 Lariat Powerboost went through 2 transmissions and a major rebuild on the second one so you could say 3 transmissions i guess. That is most certainly a pump noise.

I note in video you are in gear six travelling over 100km/h when the sound happens and when you switch to 7th it stops. Is this in tow/haul mode or normal mode? Was 6th gear something you normally use towing at that speed? I lock out down to 8 but never 7th on highway.

Also, are you in tow/haul mode when this condition exists?

Yes the sound happens in all speed. I'm only forcing it to change gear so that i better record the sound coming from the transmission.

Yes I'm always in Tow/haul mode.

Yeah, I would quit driving that and get it to the dealer.

They didn’t do something right. Whether it’s the install or a bad pump or low on fluid, but, that ain’t right.

Is it just me or does it seem like every time someone opens one of these there are issues after. Maybe those who have had a transmission service (10R80MHT) like fluid and filter change or repair and all was done properly could post.
