Powerboost reliability.

My 22 powerboost with 13k stumbled and died on the interstate last Saturday. The Ford roadside service was worthless and after waiting for them to fail to procure a tow for over an hour, we arranged our own. It's been sitting at the dealer ever since. They had to start with a fuel pump and despite putting a rush order (they claim) it hasn't shown up. Anyone else have this problem with the truck or parts?

As if it ran out of gas? No check engine or warning messages?

It is the only thing so far. It died and after a few attempts to get it started and somewhere safer it gave me warnings related to the battery. I had several hours to read other threads while I waited for a tow. Ford roadside service left me out to dry and I had to arrange my own tow. Now I'm worried.

certain parts are a known issue. some trucks have been waiting weeks on parts. all depends on availability and your dealership

Have yet to see something like this pop up yet. You didn't put e85 in it by chance did you?

So long as trucks are rolling off of the assembly line each day, no, there is no part shortage. Now if ford will actually man up and do what's needed or fall back on CEO incompetence is something entirely different. @Ford Motor Company will you guys step up and get this man his fuel pump?

No. As I farmer I wish I could use e85 but unfortunately that's an option that's getting harder to find in an engine.

Yeah, the direct injection requires a diesel like high pressure pump to inject directly into a cylinder and the 3.5's pump runs out of volume around the e30 mark unfortunately. It's still enough to make ~600hp though with e30 and a tune. The 5.0 will eat e85. The 3.5's are supposed to have both cylinder and port injection -- curious if a larger port injector could make up for this. I haven't done a deep dive into the fuel injection system to see if the port injector relies on tank pump pressure or not.

Perhaps an aftermarket company could look into it.

That's a good point. I may hit them up tomorrow. My 17 year old will want his car back soon enough!
