There are many OBD adapters to choose from, but you kinda get what you pay for, to be honest. I have a ridiculous assortment because I have multiple vehicles to mess with, but a safe bet is the

I am NOT a good source for advice regarding doing these things with an iOS device though. But there are fellas that can help.
this is the best one you can get. I had the previous model in my VW Jetta TDI, then my Jeep WK CRD. Now I have the MX+ (I use Torque on a retired Android phone).

Just a test dashboard I have on an Android phone as I dig into replacing my Ngauge in my truck.
The gauge furthest to the right is SOC, state of charge for the Hybrid Battery.

When active in the truck it's VERY informative and you eventually discover the management strategy that Ford has regarding. I'm convinced that if Ford would simply make available on the instrument cluster some equivalent, the driver would be armed with the kind of feedback necessary to gain additional fuel economy.

My average right now is 19.7 and I have 2100 miles. I usually show a MTE at almost 600. I need to take a long trip and see if it will do better.
Also, if you look at the Eco meter (the one that shows available battery compared to power demand) mine never gets more that 1/4 of the bar graph. I didn’t know if when the battery is full it should cover from end to end.

If you could view a simple 0-100% StateOfCharge gauge for a while it would be far easier to understand than that Eco-meter you referenced.

First thing you would come to terms with is the range that the onboard logic keeps the battery in. For the most part it is a 40-60% range. And even that is a bit of a stretch because it's often in the 45-55% range.

Are you using PIDs or just gauges you find in the app? Would you share the PIDs if you are using them?

This PID is available in most apps I have looked at. But in Obdlink (Android) it is found in the BECM module and is listed as "Battery Pack State Of Charge"

Of course you can choose whether you want a gauge/dial/numerical....
